Hi,

Just got Glanza on Sunday. I think (see other post).

Can anyone tell me what all the buttons are?

There's one center top with turbo ..low?

On right side of wheel there are buttons called PWR and MANU what are these for?

Any other info much appreciated.

The back window and rear side windows are covered in fabric with hundreds of wee holes.....what is that called...is it a sun shield should I take it off?

I'm a bit disappointed with steering...I had heard that these handled amazing. It has Tein springs and std shockers...the steering feels vague, play on wheel and feels light and not much feedback. Is this an issue or "just the way they are.

Thanks

Ronz

The Hi/lo boost button only controls the actuator, not fueling. It doesn't remap the ECU in anyway, it was designed for "Low Traction Conditions" not for economy.

The PWR & MANU buttons allow you to change the behaviour of the auto gearbox.

With both buttons off it's in normal mode - everything operates normally.

MANU button on - Gearbox changes up at lower rpm and holds as high a gear it can to allow a relaxed and economical driving style.

PWR button on - this is the 'sports' mode so the gearbox will be far more responsive to throttle input and rev to redline before changing.

You also have an overdrive button on the shifter. This activates and deactivates the 4th gear of the gearbox.

If you need to clear a path attack mode is PWR with the overdrive off.

The fabric on the rear windows is a factory option. Quite rare tbh so I'd leave it in place so long as it's in good condition. Think they are a pain in the ass to remove anyway.

Handling wise I wouldn't class a glanza as a sharp handling machine. Should still give you a bit of confidence though.

My guess is that it hasn't seen any wheel alignment or camber adjustment in a while so this would be the first thing I would be investigating. Should sting around 50 quid. Very few people bother having it done even after major suspension work!

Hope all that makes sense.

Wow, didn't realise how sophiticated the Glanza Autos were!

Most Toyota's of the era came with electronically controlled transmissions, the starlet got this in the mk2 gt onwards. The mk1 auto was more basic, I've never driven one.

Wow, what door cards are those. Lots of optional extras in there, vanity tray and arm rest plus speaker door cards.

Is that yours Jay?

Mk1 recaro door cards with the early type speaker pods Calum, the later type were a lot more pretty looking lol.

Just a phrase for the first version of the GT Turbo Ronny, technically we should be using the same terminology that the MR2 drivers use (Mk1, Mk2 Rev1/2/3/4 and Mk3 for example) but if someone says mk1 it's usually the 1st version of the 4rd generation Starlet.
