    Map sensor

Ok so I actually somehow seem to have deleted a lot of my MAP sensor tests results from my phone, there may have been beer involved there. Anyway I know I did a lot of tests and Im annoyed with losing the results but i do have a recent test result. It's not as extensive as my earlier tests but...

    Map sensor

Cheers Jay, my sensor is the later one for Starlet GT Turbo with part number 89420-10050 I tried to look at closer at the pics you posted there to read it but I can't make it out properly. Thanks for sending me that info but is there any other way you can send it or any other way I could view it...

    Map sensor

No probs, I'm in Ireland and I have been interested in alternatives if it worked safely and correctly but I'm not looking to complicate things any further if possible so I'd rather the original sensor. It just seems more straight forward for my current situation. Are you also having MAP sensor...

    Map sensor

I have checked mine with a multimeter and a vacuum pump. The results I got are out of spec when comparing to the info I found for testing it. I rechecked a number of times but still get the same results. I bench tested the MAP sensor on its own and also tested it on the car connected up. I also...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Hate the thoughts of testing all the wires end to end I don't even know what readings I should be getting or which wire goes where on the engine side from ECU plug. I did find a vid on YouTube for testing a Toyota map sensor and I reckon it prob is the same but the funny thing is both map...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Ok well Jay I'm not liking your post because you have me scared now. I like SKINY's post only because if it turns out to be the ECU then it sounds like it could be a cheap fix. I have had trouble with an ECU in another car before and I had to replace it and that cost more than I liked and it was...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Ok so the weekend has knocked me back a bit but I'm going to check out the above when I get a timing light. I don't intend to do any driving really for a while so hopefully its sorted by then :) I have changed the Map sensor for a Glanza one and it made no difference. I've done a new...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Thanks, I actually haven't set the electrical timing and I did have the dizzy cap off but just the cap itself never removed the actual distributor. I will have to look into purchasing a timing light, are they all the same accuracy wise? It will be interesting to see the results on another...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

So alls back together but after letting it idle for a bit and then revving it some it then decides to cut out instead of idling. So it needs some throttle to keep it running and the same for starting. What could cause this, idle control valve maybe?

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Thanks SKINY, it sounds like what I was thinking about making up earlier but me not very good at welding and I thought it could be time consuming so I ended up finding a quick way on Google where u remove 1 spark plug, rotate crank so the piston is down below TDC, feed in to the cylinder a long...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

:D And she fires! Got all lined up and new belt on, put some stuff back on to jst check it runs and it starts first turn off the key! It seems to be idling a little rough and very smoky its almost like theres unbured fuel coming through too so will have to see about that but I am a very happy...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

With my cam shafts both lined up with each other in the above pic I have the TDC mark on the other side of the cam cog also lined up with the 4E on the cam pulley lined up with the dot punch indent on the cam shaft bearing cap marked (C) in one of my earlier pics. Here's a pic of that side of...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

I'm now going to get a timing belt, can anyone tell me if a Motor Factors one is good enough and should I need the whole kit-tensioner, idle pulley ect.? Also will a 3 jaw puller do the job of removing the crank pulley or does it have to be a crank pulley removal tool?

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

I think maybe the belt feels a bit loose but I hope not to have to have to go looking for parts like new tensioner or replacement oil seals. Maybe it was a bolt that nipped the belt where it did and the car was up on 1 Jack stand passenger side and lying down towards the timing cover for some...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Thanks for the link Jay, that's actually one of the guides I've been using. I did check the cam timing marks were in line with each other and from what I can see there spot on, see pic below. I just don't understand why someone before me marked with tippex where they did as its not on the...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Judging by the above it appears you were all right in thinking it was the timing. I have no crank pulley puller so I'm going to try get one tomorrow so I dont have much hassle as most of the crank pulleys edge is already chipped away from someone else before me. Can anyone tell me which of the...

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Lol! Here's the pics of where I'm currently at. I hope to get back to it this eve but I'm a little confused with some tippex mark someone put on the cam pulley before and why there's 2 dot punch marks on the cam shaft bearing cap. If anyone can explain this it would be much appreciated.

Spark + Fuel = No Fire?? Help Please!!

Thanks so I've lined up crank shaft pulley indent to "0" on the bottom timing cover, then checked the 4E mark on the cam shafts sprocket was lined up with the dot punch mark on the cam shaft bearing cap but it wasn't. The cam shaft valve lifters were loose on cylinder 1 and also on cylinder 4...
