2 computer problems... HELP!!!

Ive got 2 problems..

Running Vista on both my comps.. 1 being a laptop and other being home pc...

Ive got a zyxel wireless router for internet...

Anyways for some reason im only getting a local connection when using my laptop instead of local/Internet, like before.. Im guessing this is a router fault with settings as I have no robs wih connecting to my neighbours wireless :D which gives me both local & internet Anyone got suggestion on how I can start browing net through my laptop again? What settings a need to change etc..?

2nd problem is my printer has stopped working, well kind of.. Ive3 got epson r200 through my main home pc but it wont print, no device faults etc, its as if it aint recognising it at all.. Anyways I put the usb connection into my laptop and it printed straight away, so I know it aint a faulty printer as it recognised it straight away when I iinserted the usb connection and installed its drivers then it printed. When I put usb into home pc nothing, doesnt recognise.. Ive tried un-installing printer from main pc but it wont delete it from teh printer program page, even when I restart pc..

I hate computers...

Just wandering if I am gonna have to walk around the house with either:

Laptop whilst carrying my printer or
My home pc/screen/keyboard and mouse??

But of a weird setup I know..

I had xp on home pc before and it fecked up so I installed vista as thats what came with my laptop...

I will wai for anymore suggestions..

Weird thing is printer works on laptop with vista but not pc with vista. Im getting a internet connection through neghbours router but only local on mine for laptop.. :S:S:

is the router new? have you put your broadband user/pass in it?

find out the router's gateway address by right clicking the network icon by the clock and choosing status

it's usually http://192.168.0.1

use the epson uninstall program in add/remove programs to remove the printer. do you even get the connect noise when you plug it in? fire up the device manager and plug the printer in, does the display change?

On my main PC Ive went throught start>control panel> programs > uninstall then re-started like it said but it doesnt remove it..

But when I plug my usb lead fromprinter into laptop it recognises something has been connected to laptop, installs software auto and prints A1. But if I try to connect it via main pc it doesnt see it.. My other usb connected items work like webcam etc, so feck nos what prob is..

Where u printing from the Desktop computer with the printer hooked into the laptop? Or do u mean every now and again u would physically plug it into the Desktop or laptop depending on ur needs?

If it the first one then the printer must have been setup as a shared resource, now if ur internet quit working about the same time as the printer quit, it may be something simple like the WAN is disabled on the router. As the other guy said log into the router make sure WAN is enabled, also if u are using a WEP key copy it or take note of it. U will need to enter it in from the laptop when u connect via wireless.

What was the last thing u did? That is usually the best place to start finding the fault.

I had my eson hooked up inot my maion home pc buddy but it stopped working, so before I put a hammer through it I thought I would hook it up to my laptop inscase it had burnt out.. But it hasnt burnt out, its working fine when hooked up to laptop but not main pc..

Standard ip address is usually 192.168.0.1 Username: admin Password: password (all lower case)

From memory though with the Zyxel router when trying to log into it u need the port number which im not sure on.

Go into internet explorer and try typing http://192.168.0.1 if that doesn't work try http://192.168.1.1 and if it still doesn't work u prob need to include a port number something like http://192.168.0.1:8080 or 8070 or sumthin

If u have the book it will tell u

Go to Start --> Run

Enter cmd

Enter ipconfig

Take note of the Default Gateway. This is the address you type into Internet Explorer to access the ZyXEL.

Your problem doesn't sound like a Vista problem, its more likely your Router is not configured correctly with your ISP's settings. Who is your internet with? I use these most days at work so I can probably help. As for the printer, I refuse to talk about them, I hate them! lol
