Once that bit is cut off the actuator, how does it get fixed to the bracket? Or does tension hold it? And what is the little hole in the bracket for!?

i just put a tiny spot weld on mine.

Little hole is for a small bolt and nut to keep the bracket and actuator together. You need to drill a little hole on the actuator for a bolt to go through
