AE86 or GT86

AE86 for me. The GT86 just doesn't do anything for me.

X2 i just prefer the old car better the gt86 is meant to be the follow on from the ae86 but its kinda like die hard the others were good just not as good as the first one, the older cars ironicly are the way forward imo

that AE86 looks awesome. I would love to own one but it has become impossible with new import laws :(

AE86 all day long, it just seems to have a character and personality, the GT86 is just trying to slip into someone elses shoes.
I do like the GT86 in todays world, but comparing different generations of car is a no brainer.
The 4AGE engine is just outstanding and is probably one of the most iconic engines ever made.

i'd go for the oldie, somehow the new cars just don;t feel as fast or as fun as the old ones.

don;t get me wrong, the new one is a hoot to drive but it's all just too well planted, too... modern and smooth and clean

the old one is noisy, smelly and overall less powerfull/grippy but it has more of the fun factor. it has that feeling of controlling a machine instead of just driving

i dunno quite how to put it. the AE is all about the driver and the car, the GT is all about just the car imho

I understand exactly what your saying Rage - Older cars really make you feel like you are driving and getting to feel the road through the steering wheel but the newer cars make you feel like your driving a ship just wofting along!

In an automotive world that’s rapidly bowing to the reign of crossovers and electric vehicles, the <link removed> remains an ode to the purists. With rear-wheel-drive layout and a naturally-aspirated engine, it stands out as an increasingly rare breed of affordable sports coupes.

I still have my AE86 but sold my FRS (86) to buy my EP82, biggest reason why? The boxer motor. The 86 is a great little car, handles amazing but the engine is a let down, the AE86 might be slow as shit in stock form but it engages the senses and revs freely.
