ok i maybe being a little stupid on this one but i thought if i change the head unit to a uk headunit the aerial should recieve signal for it to pick up?

in which case why do i still have no aerial signal?

and before you say is it plug in the answer is yes! i have fitted over 20 sterio systems before but never come across this problem before!

its definately a uk headunit,
am starting to think there is a problem with the cable from the aerial to headunit as i can sometimes get it working when the unit is not in place in the dash.

does anyone know if it is possible to replace the cable?

its in 2 parts. one part goes from the headunit to just behind the instrument cluster then it goes from there to the aeriel unit itself, its all fairly easy to change
