belkin router problem!?

It is quite odd but Vista is only finding its feets and sometimes the Networking side of it fails. You could try use Mac Address Filtering on the router, this may help the two pair faster for you. In the setup page there will be an option down the left hand side for Mac Address Filtering choose that and goto Command Prompt, Type Ipconfig/all and find the Mac Address for your Wireless Card and add it into the router page and enable Mac Address Filtering.
Also have you tried reintsalling or updating the driver for your wireless card?? Just out of curiousity what Make and Model of system do you have??

i was going to enable mac address filtering but though if there was more security it may be even worse??

i havnt updated the wireless cards driver tbh.

its a compaq presario c700

It depends it may actually make it better due to it being a way for the router to quickly identify your computer and vice versa, worth a shot also try disabling the encryption completely.
Would definately trying either updating or reinstalling your wireless card.

maybe the wireless is fast but the broadband connection itself is still pretty damn slow

i hate being too far away from the exchange to get decent speed :flame:
