works fine on my desktop, but has some crap about c panel working ok on my laptop when i try and get on the site???
tried the bits of info i could find on the site and nothing seems to help!?
any idea?
We moved server hosts recently and the site now lives at a new IP address. We left the old server online for 3 weeks to allow for your ISP to note the change but it appears that it may not have done so (a properly configured ISP should note the change within 72 hours - 3 weeks is a huge amount of time).
We monitored the old server and watched as the traffic gradually moved over to the new server. When there was zero traffic hitting the old server we took it offline a few days ago. It appears you are one of the lucky ones!
So how can you fix this, well there are a couple of ways. The issue is that the old IP address is cached somewhere and you need to update it. Luckily the method for updating it is pretty simple, just follow the instructions below, I might differ slightly from windows XP/windows 7 etc but its all pretty similar.
1. Go to start and click run and type cmd and press enter to get to a command prompt
2. At the command prompt type ping
www.toyotagtturbo.com and press enter
3. If the ping resolves toyotagtturbo.com to the address 74.55.13.198 then that is the problem - thats no longer up
4. type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. You should get a message back stating that your DNS resolver cache has been flushed
5. type ping
www.toyotagtturbo.com and press enter - if you are now seeing toyotagtturbo.com resolve to 174.121.236.111 then you should be able to access the site now. If its still showing the 74 address from earlier then a little more work is needed
So.. something is up with your DNS server, entries are either not being updated by your ISP or your router is caching them, dont worry though this is pretty common and there is a solution. We can make a static entry.
In windows XP and earlier
1.Open up windows explorer and browse to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder
2.In this folder you should see a file called "hosts". Open this in notepad
3.Scroll right down to the bottom of the file if there is a line that says toyotagtturbo in it delete it and replace with the following/if there is no line that says anything about toyotagtturbo add this line-
174.121.236.111
www.toyotagtturbo.com
4. THIS IS IMPORTANT - go to file and save. Make sure you put the filename in quotation marks! it must be saved as "hosts". You will be asked if you want to overwrite the original, say yes.
5.You should now be able to access the site
Windows 7:
1.Go to start, all programs, accessories and right click notepad and select "run as administrator"
2.Select file/open and then go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and select the hosts file
Please be aware that this is not an issue with our site. We purposely paid to keep two servers online whilst our DNS records updated and it appears your ISP has poorly configured DNS servers or there might be a static entry in your hosts file which needs to be edited.
Let me know how you get on or if you need more assistance.
