As a few people will know there was a little issue with this build, Its not something I've hidden and been very open about. Ferdys' engine was experiencing an oil burning issue, the engine made good power, had perfect compression and didn't suffer from any leaks or ill behaviour but it did like the taste of oil. We tried a few things and recommended a few things to try over the phone with ferdy but it didn't improve.

Confusing thing was the car didn't show any signs of oil consumption, exhaust was clean and no smoking

So last week Ferdy dropped the car of with myself for it to be inspected and come to the conclusion on what was the matter. From the build information I have kept the piston rings were gapped correctly but didn't feel like they generated the same ring tension from the oil control ring I was used to, after speaking to CP they had changed there design for a new "low friction" design so I just put it down to this and carried on as normal. But after it has started burning oil I started to think twice about these items. So new rings ordered and then inspection was booked in with ferdy.

The block was dropped from the car, as you can tell from the pictures above. Everything was stripped down. Exhaust ports were sooty by dry, no signs of any valve stem oil leakage so that's fine. Turbocharger felt fine with no wet oil from the compressor or turbine. Oil control rings were also checked and there tension was inside acceptable levels, gaps were also still fine. No signs of any contamination in the oil, bearings also in perfect condition, and no scoring to the bores.

When I Took the head off the block and found this, which is the cause of the oil consumption. The bores have become "glazed" for some reason, they just haven't bedded in correctly and over time just worn away the fine hone marks to an almost polished surface, You can see the hone that was done to the bores at the top of the cylinders were the rings don't reach, then the polished walls further down. There is also a brown brunt oil residue that comes off after some pressure with a cloth. Little confused why they didn't bed in as this is normally caused by being to gentle in the running in period but I did the initial fire up and ferdy said he did the running in process to my advised specs which I believe 100% so no finger pointing or insinuating.

This is how it should look

Either way its one of those things and I've accepted the job as a "warrantee fix" so everything will be done free of charge. I stand by my engines and work :)
