That is just your computer messing ya about Sheldon, nothing to do with the search time. I haven't seen a db error all day, and that's the truth.

Im getting database errors all day when I try enter this website.

Just wondering, why is it always www.toyotagtturbo.com I get these? I also browse alot on other forums for a few years now and never had an error like this?

Aidan

Okay, so today is the first time we have had database error reports for months now so to say you always get them on TGTT is a bit dramatic Aidan.

To put this in to context

today we had a period of database issues from 1:32am EST for 45 seconds which caused 24 rejected attempts by members

We then had a period of database errors from 9:16am EST for 4 minutes which caused 217 rejected attempts by members.

On a monthly basis we have millions of hits against our database and proportionately this is tiny.

As for the reason you dont see this happening on other sites.. well there are a lot of factors to consider such as how busy that site gets at peak times. How often you use other sites - a casual user on TGTT is unlikely to ever see a database error versus someone thats on here all day will of course be more likely to see an outage. Redundancy - we could spec another server and failover to that or load balance across it but for 4 minutes and 45 seconds of outage in the past 45 days I dont think the cost would be justified.

Thank you for reporting the problem but I would ask that the next time you see an outage for 4 minutes please remember that servers go down on the Internet all the time and ours is no different. In this case it was caused by a failed process which needed to be restarted.

EDIT: Some random database errors are popping up for some users. As a precautionary measure I have requested a hard reboot of our server by our hosts. This could take place at any time so please be aware the site will be going down for a few minutes soon.

We have reconfigured some parameters within our database to allow us keep the search time low and also handle the increased load that causes.

We will be monitoring this and changes will be made if required.

I didnt mean to sound dramatic. I know it has been months since the last DB error which is great but what I was saying was that I never seen a Database Error on any other forum but you are right saying that it is probably due to me been on tgtt all the time:p

Anyway thanks for clearing that up with me Dylan:)
