Just finished renewing the lower control arm bushes today and thought I'd share what I found to be an easy method of doing the job only taking around two hours or so to complete.

Step 1: Gather your tools to do the job.

Step 2: Loosen the front wheel nuts, jack the car up and lower it onto some axle stands.

Step 3: Loosen the nuts and bolts that hold the lower control arm in place. You will need to undo the three 14mm bolts that hold the bottom ball joint in place, the main inner front 17mm bolt, the 12mm sway bar pin nut and the four 17mm rear inner mounting bolts.

Step 4: Remove the control arm from the car.

Step 5: Place the control arm in a vice and cut through the rear rubber bush with a hacksaw to expose the inner crush tube.

Step 6: Use a grinder to carefully grind through the crush tube until you can see a line or break in the tube.

Step 7: At this point you should be able to pry the bush and crush tube off of the lower control arm rear mounting pin.

Step 7: Reposition the arm in the vice and attack the front mounting bush with the hacksaw again.

Step 8: Drill some holes through the bush to weaken its grip on the arm.

Step 9 : Lubricate the bush with WD40 or CRC and use some large multi-grips to work the bush out.

Step 10: Clean up the control arm and lubricate the bush mounts with the supplied grease.

Step 11: Fit the bushes making sure everthing is liberally coated in the grease.

EDIT: Don't forget to put the original washers back in place (like I did thanks for the info guys)

Step 12: Don't forget to grease the sway bar mounting points.

Step 13: Add grease to the front inner mounting bush housing and refit the lower control arm.

Step 14: Do up all the nuts and bolts firmly apart from the rear bush mounting if fitting the Whiteline anti-lift bushes.

Step 15: Grip the rear off-set bush and using the multi-grips again, pull it towards the outside of the car then do up the bolts giving you the maximum amount of positive caster.

Step 16: Refit the wheel and repeat the procedure on the other side of the car.

NOTE: Don't forget this procedure will throw the wheel alignment out considerably so it goes without saying that you should book her in for an alignment and drive carefully to get there.
