Help with frostwire?

i have always used frostwire for downloading torrents ect.
but i have just changed internet provider so have a new router ect.
so now downloads crawl at 3kps as it says frostwire detects a firewall.
i checked and its not a firewall on my comp. so after researching it online i read something about routers acting as a firewall? and then a whole load about port forwarding whicj i tried but cant get my head round.
so any ideas how to fix this?
or even another good software prog that i could use instead?

cheers:freddy:

Heard bad things about frostwire and limewire, didn't know you sould use them to download torrents though.

I use utorrent and have never had a problem with it, never needed to port forward or anything and I get good download speeds. Maybe give that a try instead?

Some providers are throttling torrent downloads, check and see if your new provider have any policy around this.

Can you access the configuration interface on your router?

EDIT: As Hutch suggested, give uTorrent a try, I use it and never have an issue with it.

I use limwire to download single songs or download them straight from zippyshare.
Use Vuze to download albums and films mate!

A lot of ISP's throttle torrent downloads during peak times in their FUP (Fair usuage policy) check that out could be the issue, also if you have a very low upload speed set then torrents often download slower - Port forwarding can be a pure pain and have often not helped me much turnt out the Vonage box my dad was using for the phone was causing the issue.

and x3 on uTorrent always been the best for me! also try and change the listening ports :) - I prefer to use rapidshare I pay for a 30day subscription and get pretty much everything im after, works out a lot quicker and easy with a few browser plug-ins!
