ignition timing

Ive got a aem fic 6 and says it can only retard timing is there any point in wiring that part of it up as surely want to advance timing to aid spool?

you would increase the base timing and then trim back the timing in other areas if needed. its the same way that most piggyback controllers control. fuelling is also done in the same way, higher pressure/larger injectors and then trim back using the ecu
