when i got to turn on my computer it start fines then starts to loads windows but then the screen goes blue and it says;

"a problem has been deteced and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

if this is the first time you've seen this stop erroe screen, restart your computer. if this screen appear again, follow these steps:

disable or uninstall and anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. run chkdsk /f to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

technical information:

*** stop: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x81a30008, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000)"

any one able to help?

cheers!

if you've installed anything recently try starting in safe mode and then removing it (any more info to work with?)

it also says invalid boot.ini file
booting from c:\windows\

it then gives me the options of;
-starting in safe mode
-safe mode with networking
-safe mode with command prompt
-last known config
-start windows normally

but they all lead to the blue screen of death as dave put it haha.

was on the pc one day last week and the power went(switched off) and it hasnt worked since then

If you had a power surge that turned the PC off and you don't have a surge protector the PSU could have blown but obviously hasn't because your still able to POST. The hard disk may have corrupted or could be a fault with any one of the components. If you see the blue screen of death the majority of times your fecked lol.

Do you have a recovery disk? If you cant even boot into safe mode something is buggered big style matey.

Make sure there is no disk in the drive when starting it. It might be trying to boot from CD, if nothing in drive and still doing it, put the XP disc in and restart PC. Try and repair it using the disk.

i had this too, take out all usb , especially net ones then go to bios and check boot sequence and then boot to safe mode.

if that fails start recovery for system, should have on boot before windows starts

if not get boot disck to break windows loading and format from there and reinstall :)

Had this before, it couldnt find the windows ini file to start windows, had to just reinstall windows again. Not good if you have no backup of your files!

corrupt boot.ini file by the sounds of it.

Use your windows XP/recovery disc to repair the windows installation by booting to it.....
