After removing timing belt and cam cover.tools used mostly 10mm scoket and 12mm
here is an exploded view of a 5e. Also when removing the cams make sure you put the service bolt on the intake cam gear.

Removing pistons from rods (in non floating gudgeon pin designs) is definitely not a home job.

One rather important thing that you didn't appear to mention is the utmost importance of labelling everything, cam caps especially. The cam caps are unique to that particular head and have to be installed in the same positions from where they were removed to ensure that the line bored cam bearing surfaces are perfect.

This is why you should never buy a head (with the intention to use it) if the cam caps are gone/mixed up. You'll need to pay for the machining which isn't cheap!

Personally I would have removed the dizzy before I ever got started :p

Great write up though, just needs a little bit more info added for those that don't know about such things.
