Here you go guys. I done it with a longer bolt and adding 3 nuts in the middle with washers top and bottom. spray the nuts back, which donesn't show it as much. Simple as that. Bonnet been rise almost 2 years now, no problems at all. Hope it helped

Think my one is about 15mm to 20mm. Thats alot of lift for the hot air to come out. works fine with me.
Anyway, Funny thing wih the rised bonnet, once in a while you do get one or two ppl coming up to your car, telling you that your bonnet is open, HAHA. I just smile(not lanugh)smile at them, cos i can't be bother to explain. or i say its like that.

Why do you need to raise the bonnet? It isn't going to make any difference, the place that needs cooling is being cooled by water in your radiator which is a far better conductor.

If you want to cool your engine where it matters, then baffle the areas around the radiator to ensure the air flows through it... AND NOT via anywhere else, rather than all the air flowing over your cam cover for no logical reason.

Or simply use Water Wetter in your coolant, it will reduce hot spots and the friction of water and give much better performance than sticking a few nuts on your bonnet mounts!

ChinaOne -- How big would you say that Bolt is? 1inch???

What i done was, took one of the nut out, and went to a Nut place asking for the same thread size but with 3 extra nut lenght, if you get what i mean?
So its won't be too long, might come though the bonnet, or too short.

indeed - I only did it to relieve some heat in traffic, seeing as I had a tmic, 1Bar, and no hoodscoop...The only way this idea would work is if there were not a gap on the sides of the bonnet...this would mean that the pressure differential between air in the engine-bay, and external air is greater, so that the air in the engine bay is actually "pulled" out via the gap at the rear

American's use this a lot on their muscle cars, it's called a Cowl Hood...and even then, it's not the entire rear edge of the bonnet that's lifted, just a section in the middle, for greater effect

if your all really that bothered about squeezing that bit of performance out by raising your bonnet you may aswell just take the bonnet off completely :D
