Reccomendations for new Fuel Pump?

That's a normal Toyota fault I'm afraid, mine worked perfectly then changed tank(same sender and pump)and then it started messing around, clean what crap you can of the terminals so it has a good earth, if you do get a 2nd hand one you can test it buy plugging it in under the seat and slowly moving the level arm by hand :)
Thats weird they must be extremely sensitive. I checked mine again while having it plugged in and it jst goes to almost full on gauge when float is at stop point on one side and it goes to just above the E for empty when at stop point on other side. But no light comes on. I also notice now my instrument cluster won’t light up anymore. It used to but it half lit up recently and now not at all. I reckon it’s a separate issue from the fuel light as it all worked for a long time before while I had no reserve light working.
Does anyone know if I can get a replacement fuel level sender on its own and if so where? Also are Glanza/or other Toyota fuel pumps and level senders the same if needed?

Probably just the bulbs in the cluster blowing. Simple (but fidgety) fix.

Toyota would be your best place for a sender unit, there are several different types so give them your chassis number to be 100%

yea sounds like dash bulbs as Jay sais, handy swapped when you have the clocks out. Trick is to undo the speedo cable at the gearbox so the clocks have some slack to disconnect them, ive wee wee teeny hands and couldn't manage it without doing it lol
the bulbs can be pulled from the wee plastic holders and replaced by any good moter parts shop for pennies each.
contact cleaner may help on your sender unit, the light is fluid level related I'm near sure too, nearly every petrol Toyota ive owned has had issues with the fuel sender fs :)

I did already try Toyota out of curiosity for the whole lot pump and sender, they told me Toyota have discontinued the fuel level sender for my vehicle but could order me the pump and sock filter for €330+vat! I knew it would be too much but just like to check things.

Thanks for the tips. So it’s looking like I will have to find a used unit with all included unless I can fix mine by cleaning it up. It is jst so corroded and rusted I would rather replace it as I would fear it being no time before becoming bad again after cleaning it. If I knew a Glanza one would be the same it’s would prob be fresher and better chance of me finding one. See below

That's pretty bad condition.

Any idea how it's got like that? The inside of a fuel tank should have minimal corrosion so if the pump is like that I'd be checking the interior of the tank just in case you have bigger issues.

Of course it could just be rusty from being left in the open air but the filter looks bad too.

That's pretty much how the one in the 2nd hand tank I got looked like, inside the tank was manking with rust too.
Acid I got from work cleaned it up like new tho, tank was sat in storage for some years and was manking fuel in it too

No idea apart from it’s been lying up a long time and the tank has not been even 1/4 filled for years. I reckon it’s just from been left in the dry and as you say from been in the air within the tank itself. I had a quick look inside the tank when I removed the pump and it looked good but how could I check it for pin holes if there were any as it seems very hard to see into all corners of the tank, my heads too big lol plus I was getting a bit dizzy!

I was wondering if anyone knew about acid for cleaning rust as I saw it done in a video and thought it done a good job. Where could I get this acid do you know? I need to get a move on wit getting parts and fitting them but still stuck looking for a fuel level sender as I’m feeling a bit lazy and under confident in cleaning my sender up considering the state it’s in. I should prob give it a go though,

i can ask today the name but I'm told i shouldn't have it gave to me, it used to clean cement of the inside of concrete trucks.
half a litre in to the tank then fill with water and put te sender unit back in to seal it then just sloshit side to side and leave a while, i left mine overnight and was like new when i poured it out, it will clean the sender unit up too but id still change the pump.

ive pictures i will add to my mod thread this evening :)

It must be tough stuff! If u do find out let me know as I’d be interested in trying that instead of possibly waisting my time going around scribbling with a wirebrush! And I do intend on changing pump stil it’s just I want an accurate fuel sender like I once had.

Thanks pal! I’m going to get some of it now and I’m so excited lol jst can’t hide it! It will be handy to have for jobs like this. One thing though, will it do any harm to the wires insulation?
Let us know when u get the pics up!

hydrochloric acid doesnt generally react to plastics. it is also safe with copper. it is not so good with aluminium though. there should be no aluminium in anything though other than the wiring may be an aluminium/copper mix.

hydrochloric acid is the main ingredient in something called "pickling paste" which is used to prep bare steel for painting, galvanising, welding etc as it removes the oxides (or rust) from the surface, giving a clean finish.

Ok so I purchased what I thought was the same stuff but it is called hypochlorite instead of hydrochloric but the lads in hardware store told me it was sometimes used for cleaning cement if lorries so I presumed it was the same stuff mentioned above. Only thing is my results aren’t very impressive. I mixed it hypochlorite with water at ratio 1/17 roughly and left the fuel level sender in it for approx 14 hours and there’s still loads of rust on it and(EDIT- it won’t even come off with a wire brush) it needs a scrub of a wire brush to remove it. It seems to hav done very little if anything towards removing the rust so far. Any ideas here?? Have I got the wrong stuff?? Is there a difference between hydrochloric and hypochlorite?

hypochlorite is an active ingredient in your average household bleach, get the hydrochloric acid, at least your rust is now clean af :)
