the lads in the hardware store were talking crap. its essentially a disinfectant as mentioned above.
you will want to go to a building wholesalers like travis perkins etc. b&q wont have anything worth a toss as the general public cant be trusted with such things ;)

Lol that was funny! :eek:So instead of me trying to clear the rust away, I have cleaned it up and left it there in a bucket of bleach watching it in glory daily as if it was like a bonus to have the rust on my fuel pump assembly! F them in the stores selling me that st and me spending so much time being as careful as I could in case I got burned with bloody “ bleach”?? lol fml, had the gloves and mask on and the whole lot like a clown :)

So anyways, i finally got a chance to get back to writing here and I just want to say sorry for taking so long to write more on my results. Over the past week or two I’ve been trying to do as much as I can. I tried to find the proper stuff “hydrochloric acid” and searched and searched but couldn’t get it anywhere locally but ended up finding out it was the main ingredient in some brick and pavement cleaners and the likes. So purchased that and it done the job I was expecting! And yes it does a serious good job on rust removal and I’m happy with the results! Thanks SKINY, dac69er! ;)

I’ve been hoping to get her fired back up every wkend for some time now but things just aren’t allowing me to do so so far. Only problem I now have is I need a fuel filter (sock type) and I was considering getting a walbro pump with kit as the filter takes a month to come from Japan by dealers. I know a shop locally selling these walbro pumps but he says I need to purchase an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for €90 and done other bit for the fuel rail for about €12 along with fuel pump at €119. Can anyone tell me here do I need all of this and if I need high or low pressure walbro 255 pump?

just buy a new pump kit and stick that in. if the old pump has been pulling in rusty crap, it wouldnt have done it any good.

as SKINY said; you dont need all the other bits. just the pump and your good to go. after you get it running, i would replace the fuel filter in the engine bay as it may be clogged with the crap out of the tank. always worth chucking a bottle of redex through too.
i dont personally swear buy it, but I have noticed a difference in cars that have been a little neglected in the past.

Can only agree with these lads, no need for other mods and a fresh pump will future proof her for a while yet.

Would recommend running some redex through the system and replacing the fuel filter on the bulkhead afterwards. The system is bound to have some crap lying in the lines so worth doing.

id use Dipatane over Redex any day, far superior product :) neighbour gave me a Redex few weeks back but didn't want to be rude so put it in the Audi :D

Well I am happy to hear that! I need to try get this back up and running without having spending on bits I maybe wont need as I’m on a budget to try make this work. I do want more mods but i jst need it back as it was running before for now, and take it from there if I can afford it. I will definitely run some fuel system cleaner through and change the filter it sounds like a good idea considering my situation, thanks for the tips.

So just to be sure, if I’m currently on a pretty much standard engine set up, I can fit a walbro pump without having to upgrade anything else?

Also is there 2 different types of this walbro 255 LPH etc, high or low pressure pump and which do I need?

And SKINY don’t knock the Audi out lol there a good car too, I have a VAG too but the GT turbo is the precious one or at least it supposed to be! I remember putting something like dipetane into the GT before for emissions for test but I think I mixed a full bottle to 1/4 tank and man there was no road behind me lol, like a train on fire! It even growled like an Impreza when I hit the throttle afterwards which I must say was rather strange although I enjoyed it too!

That will be enough for your set-up mate, no matter the flow rate the factory fuel pressure regulator will keep it right.
I'm changing turbo kits and fuel pump is the last thing on my list lol, will see how it goes and if needs be one off the above will be fitted :)

The Audi is my better halves daily I rarely drive it, must ask if she has noticed any difference, it was owned from new by an auld lad(I've a cheek)and never seen 50 mph so needs a good few hard runs to get the engine used to high revs, Missus said it's getting there tho :)

Lol :). The only things is I’ve tried twice to contact the above webesite “tuningdevelopments” over the past week or 2 and got no answer. I even tried the phone number but it’s coming up as wrong num? Does anyone know how I can get in contact with this company?

Is there a way to know if your getting a genuine walbro if I do go for it?
