Started on the way home a slight judder/misfire around 2krpm.just went out again and was worse. Revs even dropped to zero then went back up again this time. Happened a few times and conked out once and wouldn't restart for a while.any ideas what this could be

do an error code check first of all. quite possibly ignition related if you haver the same damp foggy weather as we have here.

as long as you dont remove the efi fuse, unplug the ecu or disconnect the battery before you check for errors.

cheers for the help guys! Started fine this morning and no issue on the 20min drive to work. At the weekend i'll check the earth, change the plugs, clean the throttle body and icv for good measure

what electronic modifications do you have on the car?

probably a bad connection/dodgy wires or water ingress issue.

None! Just bought new ht leads and need to do the plugs and check the earths. Did wash the car sunday and issue started monday. But drove it inbetween

water can take a while to get in and cause issues. unplug all the ignition components (coil, ignitor, distributor) and check for any ingress. also just check over the wiring to these items as they may be damaged. you could try wigling the wires around those areas while the car is running to see if it makes any difference.

Think i may have sold the issue, noticed some wires had snapped on this switch. Temp bodge back together and issue hasn't happened again. Anyone know what its for?
