Hi Lads

I have a Netgear 108MBPS Super-G DG834 GT (lol), which has been unable to connect to the net. It's fucked, and netgear support are complete and utter... welll think of phonejacker providings, thats all im saying. Basically ike Dylans Indian computer training joke x10.

Anyway I'm just going to buy another one rather than try to get one replaced through netgear as they are a total nightmare.:homer:

Any recommendations? I need it to be wireless, with an integrated modem with ports, running a good connection to xbox live and PC, with the latest wireless spec etc.

Cheers in advance.

Stu

No mine goes off, roughly each night. I will not every buy a netgear again due to the quality of their service.

Might go for a D-link? any good?

well netgear is pretty good or the belkin DSL cable routers.

i have a netgear router that has 4 ports. one is the main one to the laptop, 2nd is wired into my pc and the 3rd port i used for my xbox live and i also use the wireless connection for the family pc downstairs. the only problem i got is the fact i dont know how to switch of the 'strict' to 'open' for my xbox live!!!! which pisses me off

netgear are pretty much the best, but dlink are also very good. steer clear of belkin (hardware problems, especially good for blowing powerpacks).

a budget brand that is very good is either Sweex, or TP-Link. installed loads of these routers and all still running strong :)

Well try some technical knoledge is required, who gave you the router? if it came with your ISP ring them, Have you tried upgrading the firmware on your router? Netgear customer service is so lame, half them cant speak english correctly

yeah i have tried everything on the netgear, it just stopped giving me internet access, i cant still connect to it by LAN, but there is no connection to the ISP (both BT and pipex have checked and all is fine) I can also connect to the net using my old usb modem, its been reset etc, it definately bust. Netgear tried to blame my phone lines, filters etc basically anything they could so they do not need to fix it.

Yeah I liked the netgear too, but after the crack with india theres no way im going through that again, I've only had it since last march.

Tell me about it! I work in IT and had done everything before I called them and they insisted I go through it all again, on an expensive phone call for 1.5 hours!!! While still trying to blame my kit. The problem is simple the modem inside the router is bust.

Hard to believe the service, you think its a joke on tv, but it really is in real life lol

Cheers Christy, I was going for a D-link but cant't find one locally that I want.

I going to pick up a Linksys WAG160n, (made by Cisco), anyone using linksys?

The spec looks good enough for xbox and internet etc.

Linksys are a good router also. How come you want to use N sooo bad?? Personally I hate it. I will be sticking to G to a good while yet

yeah I checked both but the options are not that great, more expensive and l need an integrated modem/router adsl, they only seem to have router/cable ones.

I checked the linksys one out and reviews seems to be not bad.
