Scratching noise?

Just wondered if any of you guys can shed some light on this.

When driving I can hear a scratching noise coming from the engine, if I put the clutch down it stops. The faster I go the louder it gets. The car pulls great and when revved on stand still it sounds crisp.
A friend suggested it could be a clutch release bearing?

It’s a 96 Glanza with no mods at all.

me and your mate share the same views ...i fink its your clutch release bearing also. i had the same symptom a few years back and turned out, it was the clutch release bearing.

Thanks guys, would you recommend I replace the clutch while the gear box is open.

I’m not going to be looking big Bhp figures in the future but maybe it will be good to know its been changed….

you may aswell do it if it hasnt been changed in a long while you dont wanna do the job twice.

if you only did it a weeks ago tho etc then it wudnt rle be worth it.

but if its been out for a few years then go for it

What would be the difference between these two from toy tuning? Bear in mind I have no mods at all but do plan to purchase an actuator and run just under fuel cut.

I’m guessing the TRD would be a little stiff on the pedal…

i was just asking as the TRD one is cheaper, seems a little strange if its a better clutch
