as above, both stopped working, where is this likely to be broken?

Where would I find it? Off the gearbox or what?

Aye, the speedo cable has probably broken mate.
It bolts onto the top of the gearbox (right behind the engine) and heads through the bulkhead to the back of the instrument cluster.
The cable usually snaps inside but if someone has been at it in the past it could just have come loose. Worth checking.
