steering wheel shaking

Also, if you idle is to low then it can cause the steering wheel to shake when stationary.

Sounds like thats the problem, low idle.

When you touch the accelerator slightly say to 900revs does the shakin go away?

No, if its happenin when drivin aswell then theres a slight chance of worn engine mounts as said above.

what speed does it shake when moving?

if anywhere below say 40 ish then its more than likely not wheel balancing. However if so then yup get them checked, perhaps few weights have fell off.

Slight vibration on the wheel when idling is nothing to worry about.

If its doing it very excesively then I'd check the points raised above.

if i hold the wheel then you cant even feel the vibration. i wouldnt say its server. yeah after about 40 it starts to shake worse so taking her down on sat to get the wheels balanced up. had engine mounts checked (car in having work done atm) and they are fine.

My Glanza does the same at idle. Nothing to worry about really if its not severe. Mine does it over about 70mph though so probably tracking and / or wheel balancing.

having a serious panic attack now just got told my wheel sounds like its going to fall off!!!!

how can i check the wheel is tight and wont fall off? i wont drive her now thats really scared me xx

Put both hands on the wheel and try and shake it like a polaroid picture. If it comes off in your hands, it does need tightening, if it doesn't......just tighten it anyway!

If it vibrates worse under braking too then check your brake disks / calipers aren't warped/siezed Don't panic though. Engine has several mounts so it's not going to fall out

Start your engine and open the bonnet. Look at the engine and see is it rocking back and forwards much. Get somebody else to give it a rev while you check for much movement.
