TERCEL1: 4th of July (Rained Out!)

I was hoping the forecast of "likely thunderstorms" would not
be a part of TERCEL1's return to the 1/4 mile at Capitol
Raceway following boostjunkie's repair work on piston #4!

Would it be faster? Would it be quicker? Would it be....?

Although quite overcast on the drive over to the track, the rain
waited until after TERCEL1 had been taken through tech,
gotten the rear tires inflated to the usual 45 psi and the front
Nitto drag radials down to 20 psi and the coilovers dropped a
good few inches... all of which was for naught... at 5 pm, when
the Christmas tree was to be lit a sprinkle of showers passed
through the area peppering the 15 or 20 cars in the staging
lanes... the drops bounced of my Mylar aluminum covering of
the hole where the sunroof once was.

Fortunately, within about a half hour, the rain had moved on
and another half hour to make sure the track was dry enough
to run and, the show was under way...

I underlined the word 'enough' because the track was far from
being 'fast'... in fact, as time went on, only cars with street
tires were allowed to run... Not making excuses but, I'd like to
feel that TERCEL1 would have done a bit better had the track
conditions been a bit better/drier?

Four runs within 20 minutes and the tower called it a day...

MIR at Budds Creek is open for test'n'tune this coming Sunday
but, again, the forecast is calling for more chances of
thunderstorms...

I dunno... will have to wait and see... :dunno:
