Well, I sure could have used a little heat as the windy
conditions made it feel as cold as a well digger's butt
(Ha-Ha-Ha!)

Don't know what it is about cold and windy weather but, after
standing in it for a while it feels like you've been tumbled
dried in a cement mixer!!!

Woke up around 5:45 am and was outta the house by around
6:20 am... ('cuz I waited to warm up the car)

Then my traditional stop for the Sausage Mcmuffin with Egg
meal and a large orange juice with lots of ice for the ride up
I-95 to Rising Sun, MD:

Right across the street was a Shell station where I stopped off
to fill my 5 gallon gas can in the trunk so I could make passes
on a 1/4 tank of gas without fear of running out of gas:

A photo of the Rising Sun exit sign (Exit 100):

Upon arriving, I staked out a patch of asphalt for my pit area...

...and quickly made a friend (Jonathon)

At first, I thought he was sporting the same kind of wheels
that I have on TERCEL1, the Kosei T1 wheels but, upon closer
inspection:

A blast from the past was also in attendance todayl... a replica
of 'Dyno' Don Nicholson, Mercury Cyclone... damn! Brought me
back to the mid '60s

I spent about 4 hours making passes down the 1/4 mile with
each being frequently worst then the previous one... the
problem seemed to be my recently installed LSD equipped,
C56 transmission with a 3.72 final drive... always a bit timid
on my 1st runs at the track, the 'problem' made itself
apparent when I started attempting to POWER SHIFT...

I discovered that if I kept my foot planted on the floorboard
throughout the pass, there was no way of getting it into 2nd
AT ALL... it wasn't like it would grind going into 2nd... it would
NOT GO IN AT ALL!!!

I was also having issues with other shift transitions and
thought I could work through these problems but, the harder
I tried, the more gears I'd grind!

IT WAS NOT A VERY GOOD DAY!

See for yourself HERE (RUN#143)... and the report card below:

I have no explanation... another frustrating day at the track!
A day when I thought, for sure, I'd post a personal best ET...

alf :fake sniffle:

PS: I still retain my sense of humor, however...

It looks like the above sign invites sexually frustrated motorists,
driving through the state of Maryland, to stop and relieve
their tension eh... or am I reading the sign incorrectly?

:haha::haha::haha:

Actually, he too was taking photos... (actually, VIDEOS!) In fact. he just sent
me an email pointing me to THIS VIDEO on YouTube which shows TERCEL1's
RUN#143 (against an oil burning import) and its very last pass (RUN#145) against...
I dunno what?

Thanks Jonathon!

alf :waving:

PS: Oh! One other thing...
In reviewing the data from the day's report card:

I'm starting to believe (wishful thinking?) the 1/8 mile speed in
that first run (RUN#134) may NOT be a result of track debris
as the incrimentals throughout the run are consistent
with similar runs that day... Opinions?

agreed.. doesnt look like it was caused by debris if u ask me, ur tranny is starting to give up the ghost not to mention the new final drive is a little to short alf..
