Time attack round 5 report

Fresh Recruit
First time I really enjoyed driving the car and nothing broke on the car so that is a first for me!

Practise
I Had a minor issue with the car over boosting on the practise laps so we try turning down the boost a bit, seem to work fine so I think a 3 bar map sensor will sort it that issue. With it being a bit damp I said it try and scrub in the r888 and see if I could figure out the racing lines a bit,

Qualifying 1
Before I when out I had a check on all the fluids noticed that the oil level was a small bit on the low side so top it up, gave it look under the car to make sure it wasn’t leaking and there was a small leak from one of the oil cooler hoses so tighten it up. And always I when, the track had started to dry up form the showers in the morning, was still getting used to the long track, think I got about 4 laps in before I noticed the exhaust temp getting a little too high, forgot the put fuel in the car before I when out, she just love that E85, just made it back to the pits when the car ran out!!!
Best time was 2.11.1

Qualifying 2
The track was now fully dry, so when on the attack for this, the grip levels on the R888 is miles ahead of the T1-R should have bought them ages ago, had a good session on track had a small issue with changing gear it work fine sometime and then it would just stop work, so either gearbox need new synchro’s or the clutch master cylinder is too weak for the OS Giken clutch.
Best time was 2.06

Final
Everything looked good for the final, the track temp maybe a little high, had a little mess around with the pressure in the tires dropped them down to about 25psi on the front and 28psi on the back when out again in attack mode lol, was still having problems with selecting gear I don’t think I had one clean lap in the final with it. I check the pressure on the tyre when I came back in they were 30psi on the front and 31psi on the back.
Best time was 2.06.8

Was really impressed by Dean Reilly car it really shifts in down the straight, also Gordon O’ Duinn EP71, he seem to have a very tidy car and know the track very well, he was flighting during the day setting a time of 1.59

All in all it was a good day out. Have a few issue to sort out before Jap fest next week.
John is going mapping the car again for the E85 and seeing if we can get the boost to come in a bit earlier, looking forward to being on the national track next week, hopefully the weather will be nice for it
