Time to get her on the rollers!

Quite disappointed i must say.

Just back from what was one of the worst experiences with a garage.

So the figure it made a terrible figure of 265 at the fly and 237 at the wheels

The torque was a joke it made 202 at the fly and 180 at the wheels.

The funny thing is the car made 270ish on a td04 at less boost.

Now as for gmc motorsport by far the biggest blahs ive came across.

At first afore strapping the car down john the owner asked me what i think it`ll make i said im hoping for 300 he then proceeded to say no way in hell this kinda car can make that sortof power its just not possible which then proceeded to me and him having an argument.

So the setup first of it took him 5 mins to find a boost reading to the point i showed him he also told me my 3bar map sensor was not a 3 bar map sensor in fact it wasnt one at all :homer:

So the runs began he asked me what to rev to i said take it to the limiter so what did he do he didnt take it to there.

first two runs it made a shockingly bad 213 at the wheels he then says that this is incorrect the revo is incorrect its still reading from the land rover they had in the morning so off he changes it. I did notice him in putting 2.12 into something what it was i dont know.

so after the run he tells me and show me the graph showing that the turbo is out of its max range at 6400 revs after that the car is making noise. Strange i know its a td05 16g.

Although he was more than happy to tell me that it didnt make the 300 mark so i never proved him wrong.

But anyway these are the figures ill maybe try somewhere else if still low of for a remap it is.

Just to add the car pulls extremely well with the previous owner stating that it feels alot quicker than when it was at 270ish.

Ct9 aint far of the torque figure :haha:

sorry to hear you had a bad experience there dude. I would try another rolling road... guy sounds like a bit of a douche bag :p

what boost was it running to get that power?

1.5bar as per his 1st post (assuming he stuck with that when he got there)

Wow that sounds like a terrible experience pal. Trust me the car is pulling harder than it was on the td04, and should be making considerably more torque as the turbo is a good bit bigger.

Did he take it to the limiter on any of the runs and at what rpm is the power starting to drop off on the graph. Cant understand this figure at all.

never once took it to the limiter and the power he stated and on graph he let off at 6.4k

hmmm thats a funny one the car was remapped when the tdo5 was put on it right..i know my starlet when it got mapped even though its a 1.5 bottom end it made 275bhp at 1.1 bar on a tdo5h 16g

Thats you problem there then. It made 237 at the wheels and was only revving to 6400, a td05 will not be producing great power at those revs, a laggy turbo like that needs to be taken to the limiter to see its max power, particularly as its still the stock rev limit.

This car makes its peak power high up in the rev range, i have the graph for the old td04 at a bar setup and it made 262 right at the limiter and didn't drop off. The guy sounds like a knob tbh.

Heres the old graph for the td04 at 1BAR setup. As you can see its making power right to the limiter. If the guy really didnt take it above 6400 then i'd be looking a re run, although by the sounds of it you wouldn't wanna go back.

torque figure might not improve much even running tdo5 .

1.3bar on the td04 it made 230lb/ft, you should be making around 250lb/ft on the td05 surely. We need to see the graph to be sure, if power instantly drops off after 6400 then thats your problem, he wont have revved it nearly enough to make peak power.

yes need to compare the graphs

that sonds like a bad rr! im rebuilding with simlar mods and am hoping for 300+ the car on you mods should of hit 300 easy id of thought, chuck the print out up dude, im sure if you go to a better tuner you will hit the 300+ mark :) what ecu you running just out of interest?

Doubt its anything to do with the tuner lad, same guy tuned both setups and it made 275 and 244at the wheels at 1.3bar on the td04.

Its an emanage ultimate. If we see the graph and it has indeed only been revved to 64-6500 then case closed and thats the problem. If it been reved to the limit and still only making that power then i havent a clue.

Coming from a guy that has ran both setups on the car in question i am certain the td05 setup should be more powerful as i thought it was worth the upgrade for the extra power i got from the td05.
