TM Developments + AFR Tuning = UK’s most powerful Starlet

hi i drive a near stock starlet with a ct9 bolted to it, so forgive me for being rude BUT

is it not abit steep to claim the most powerful starlet in the UK based on a fly hp figure which is based on a whp figure - which is wrong?

just a thought.

I have been assured by Matt the the BHP figure is correct, I can't see him fudging it can you? The WHP is not wrong but would have been higher in 4th, I'm sure Matt will be along to explain it all.

nope its still a 1.3 :)

I've seen it quoted as a 1.3 and a 1.5 in a few places, so it's an easily made mistake.

Is there a full spec list available?

Mmm, where did I put that spec list....................

way over there....... yip yip.......... left abit more further....................... further.............. yeah just beside the whp figure rofl/

Wow, everyone's a comedian.

I've not seen (and it's not immediately obvious, if it is here somewhere) a spec list that covers even the basics of the car. I can sort of understand a need to keep some apsects quiet (although many tuners share knowledge), but a basic spec list (1.3/1.5/turbo/cams used/ported/piston sizes) are hardly a trade secret.

Seeing them with the results, rather that dotted around like a weird treasure hunt would be nice.

well yes i can certainly see it being fudged lol i dont know him, but going by any dyno/operator ive ever seen they can fudge things regularly and easily.

but thats cool, i remember enginetuner correcting me on a dyno query before im sure mat will do the same :) im here to learn (and ask the awkward questions :) )

Nice work Dave, would like to see some pics of the car in action and videos of you putting it to use! Need more people to keep the good material coming to the site.

I thought in your other thread you said you're not chasing power figures, so it's hardly supprising that you'll get some stick with "UK’s most powerful Starlet" in the title ;)

Glad you're happy mate, she sure is a monster

As for dyno figures, I'm a realist and have said before that ALL chassis dyno figures need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Our fwhp figures generally come out very good, did a power run on a bone stock 350z which is 276fwhp and we made 273 and 274 over three runs. We also dyno'd a 360bhp car and then took it to a local dyno dynamics dyno that same morning, and made within 2% of the fwhp figure on the DD. We also have our dyno calibrated every three months.

Throughout the mapping sessions with Dave, every fwhp figure at various boost levels made sense.

We've had starlets make within a few whp of TDis rototest too, but when run in an overdriven gear (ie 5th) we have proved that it throws out the calculation between wheel and flywheel horsepower. Next time Maha are in I'll ask exactly how it is all calculated, but all I know is that our fwhp figures are certainly respectable and repeatable. It's never going to be spot on with a chassis dyno, which is why we have an engine dyno too

Still planning on a Rototest hub dyno, but due to the euro:sterling rate, they have effectively gone up £50k in 6 months to £150k :(

Main thing is, Dave, and all the other Starlet customers, are happy - that's all I'm after :) To me the dyno is simply a device for tuning cars in safety :)

Now, I'm off for a cold one - it's been another busy day at the office :haha:
