I have just bought a 1998 Toyota Starlet SR with the the 4EFE engine. I was wanting more performance and had seen a 4EFTE engine for sale on e-bay.If I was to buy this would it fit straight in and would I have to replace the wiring loom and gearbox?I don't want to buy this and then find out it will not fit.

you don't need to swap the box but i would as the na box gear ratios are not ideal for turbo application. also, i reckon it'd be close to it's limits with stock power.
loom you will have to mod, best engine, ecu and loom to use is the ep82 version as it is a closer match to your loom that the Glanza one.

Gearbox will be fine, i use it on my 5efte with GT28R turbo...

how do you find the gear ratios? one of the lads on here (Gee i think) fitted one and said they were too short.

well depends on what you are using it for...
I think it work perfektly, it keeps pulling through all the gears, incl. 5 gear.
