transferring no claims

hey. just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation to this?

i've been insured on a car with quinn since june last year and am thinkin of getting rid of this car, continuing the policy but also taking a policy out with a different company for a starlet gt very soon. i would obviously be telling the new company i have 0 years no claims bonus when i buy the policy, but if i ring them in june once i've accrued 1 year ncb with quinn, would the price i pay instantly reduce?

pretty sure it wont, may be worht then cancelling the policy and sdtarting a new one, or just wait till june

You could be intitled to a years intro bonus if you tell them you have already got a private car policy with 1 years no claims bonus and this new one is ur second car. They should be able to allow you have the same bonus!

depending on the insurer of course!!

hope this helps! :D

oh cool yeah i would have thought so too leanne, looks like i'll go down that route.. just seems too stupid to still be paying out on a car i won't own, just to get the no claims bonus off the policy lol.

Naw dont think that is correct.
If you continue to pay your policy on the other car to achieve your 1 year no claims then when that policy is finished you can transfer the no claim bonus over to your new policy.
Basically if you have any no claims bonus you can use it with ANY company but you can only use it once. So say you had 2 cars you cant use the no claims on both you would have to choose which one.
E.G my mother has 8 years no claims bonus on her Peugoet 306 she recently purchased a Mazda 323F she can transfer her no claim from the Peugoet to the Mazda but runs the chance of her Peugoet policy increasing but either way one of the policies are going to be dearer.
Someone correct me if im wrong but Im nearly 100% im right:haha:

ah that does sound about right tbh. insurance does my head in.

perhaps i could transfer the original insurance policy on quinn to some shitty non-existant car that i don't have so the premiums would be less, just up until the year is out and i get the no claims - while at the same time paying full whack for the starlet on the other policy?

Why cant you insure the starlet with Quinn for the few months until you have one years ncb. Then you can go to any company that you want

i wish i could mate but they won't insure me as i'm only 18 and apparently it's a 'performance vehicle', meaning they won't touch me unless i'm 21 however i'm sure i know people under 21 insured with quinn for a starlet  beats me
