There is a guy on the 106 forums with a Turbo'd 106 GTi - it's running 500 WHP. its completely un-useable. Spins in every gear.

If your think of the same one i think you are its running 371whp and 420fhp! Its a very good freind of mine and when we went out for a play my car pulled away from it due to the ammount off lag and wheel spin! He was only running 13psi at the time, its an absolute animal, but all its really good for is shreading tyres!

did it say in the video it was a daily driver?

Also Dan you take your car to the quarter mile to see how fast it can go down it... why bother even running or timing if you are going to come out with all those excuses "the driver, the tyres, the weather... etc etc etc" who cares? All anyone is interested in is the time. By your thinking we could roll a bmx out on to the track and say well it only did a 2 minutes run but if we had the right rider, tyres, better weather etc etc god knows what we could have got... but but but.. but nothing... take a car on the quarter mile and accept the time thats given and if there are tyre issues, driver issues weather issues then next time address them :)

I look it it different to you.

Im just saying a car cant be judged on a time it put down on the quarter mile. You have to look at the bigger picture. There are reasons for why it got such a bad time for the power. And they are very good reasons that will explain alot. At 400BHP that thing will slaughter most cars. I can look beyond 1 quarter mile time.

Im not sticking up for the honda anyway lol, im talking in general about any car. Ive heard of very high powered starlets getting terrible times and people saying its poo etc etc, And i think :holdit: :shoot:

Sure - here:

Well worth the read IMO. I don't think the vids are there anymore but there is no exageration when I say that it spins in EVERY gear.

the Vtec engines weather they are turbod or N/A seem to have very very good traction compared to other cars, probably due to their power band. And the "torque" distributed in more revs as apposed to all the torque in fewer revs..........

Traction has very very little to do with engines mate. It's all to do with the drivechain, suspension, geometery and tyre setup.

Hence why my 200+bhp Starlet spins like fook and struggles to get traction until 3rd gear and my mates 700bhp Skyline has no problem getting traction from the word go.

Yea Its Deans one I am thinking of and he has on his progress blog that it is around 500bhp? ATSPEED did the majority of the work to get it finished. One of the owners (Colin) has a 300 ATW cherry red GTi.

I am glad you posted as this is exactly what I mean. It's an absolute waste having so much power in a FWD car. Its unusable.

I beg to differ. It has alot to do with the power/torque and power band of the car.

Im not saying you dont have your points as i agree with you, thats just obvious that suspension/tire set up are going to have a huge impact on it but there is more to it.

American cars can spin all day long due to there slow rev HUGE torquey engines. They dont necessarily go very fast but they can sure burn rubber.

Lad i know from rotherham, he built a 400bhp 1.6 non-vtec EG6... it ran 12s and only cost him £2k to build...

he knows what he's doing tho he does all his own work including tuning his own cars and make his own manifolds... :)

not you again :p

see what your saying man but if you take your car to a dragstrip it gets the time it gets excuses are excuses. If you dont want to get a bad time dont run your car. You could have 1,000,0000,0000000 HP but your car might not be any good on the dragstrip. You dont see them on "pinks" saying "you aint getting my money/car ... I lost but my car is really powerful"
If you lose you lose. If your car can hit 300mph over a 20 mile stretch of road then build a 20 mile drag strip :) on the qtr mile your car gets timed over a qtr mile.

Like my car would probably be shit on the drag strip but if it was I wouldnt make excuses or say "well its good on a race track" if its good on a race track take it on a race track and prove it. Dont really know how to explain it any better... its like a formula one driver losing and saying "but my car would beat you in a drag race!" it doesnt matter you lost in the race that you chose to run in,

I am a freind of colin, its 339bhp.
getting 400 soon.
his power is usuable from third, like a starlet.
i know it is pointless, but colin works for a tuning company,
he turned his car into a showcase car, to prove what his firm could do.
he can beat most cars sklnes evo's mildly tuned to 130
thing is, its a pug, and its so crap at taking that power.
but colin's is more of a showcase, of what he can do, to get customers,
so he can prov he done it himself to his own car.
