it's been pounding rain the last month or so in this here parts.. (with a texan accent) :) ..and i suspect the 'water fest' may have got to my driver side wiper. i have a RHD and the driver side wiper makes a squeaking sound when it gets to the edge of the screen before making the return trip down..
i have confirmed my wiper blades have nothing to do with this as the squeak is still present even when the wiper is off the screen.
any of you folks experienced this ever..? want to get thoughts/opinions before i dig in and start removing panels left right & centre.. :/

is it remotely possible that there is a joint covered up by a rubber boot of some sort..? coz i'd imagine that it's only a greased joint connecting this wiper arm with the motor assembly on the other end..

Take off the whole wiper and turn them on i think the motors underneath will still turn if the are squeekin u no for def its nothing to do with the arms as i think u sai already i would try follow them back down the line and see what can be greased/lubed ...do your wipers move as fast as they use to if not could be a tired motor ?

further investigations..

wiper speed is still good -- both on speed I and speed II. the motor doesn't seem to struggle and i don't get any sort of noises from it so i'd like to believe it's still in good health. i was afraid that i may have to remove the panel at the base of the screen to investigate some more.. and it looks like i'll be doing that.. :|

wiper joint disassembly

ok fellaz, so i got to disassembling the wiper joints before fatigued arms and eyes plus fading daylight got me to stop and come into the house. here is a shot of the joint in question. i managed to get to it and peeled the rubber boot off to get to it but at this point, i'm uncertain of how to get it apart. here's another angle.. and another from the mess of things as it was..

so, does anyone have any experience with these joints..? i don't mind experimenting but at times i prefer to go the easy route and get tips from one who's done it in the past. the car is a 97-spec glanza. thanks.. :)

clean it up with wd40 or similar then lash it up with grease (Y) should do the job then cover it up n test...can be good to move them whilst jetting wd40 in there cleans all the grit n shite out

yes George611.. that's all fine and dandy.. but i need to disassemble the actual unit from the base of the screen first.. hence my inquiry.. :)

done deal

i got this done today. will share pix and some tips a little later for anyone who may want to go at this.. which i strongly suggest, because the scum and dirt i found in there was unimaginable.. and would just be a failure in waiting given the age of these cars :)
