yeh, ive redone that, and put in the WPA key, which im assuming is the password i put on the wireless when i set up the broadband, but now it just wont connect to it

the wpa is the password for your wireless network aye. Don't want to patronise, but you deffo 100% sure the password is correct that you enter.

I assume it has a signal as well, so what does it say when it does it's fault finding? as iirc when you do a connection test, it should give you a bit more information of the area it's failing on.

it just says, failed to connect, on the first part where it flashes between the xbox and the router, then says

"there a problem with your connection"

when you select more it says

"turn your router off and then back on, and wait 30 seconds"

done that bout 6 or 7 times now, made no difference

the light on my wireless adapter is red, is that correct? altho tried it cable to the modem, and didnt work either.

now it just says on the more info part

"cant connect to your network hardware, there may be some additional solutions available at www.xbox.com/networkhelp

but there is nothing there

Are you getting connected to the internet on the wireless as it goes through the self test?

Try setting up the wireless card again and the key.

You could also try to connect via the ethernet cable, as that's easy to do.

Depending on what router you have, make sure your NAT settings are set to OPEN.

If its a BT router, make sure to add the xbox as a device to allow the correct ports to be opened. Any other router, you may have to manually open the correct ports.

It may have held onto an IP address from your mums router, you need to wipe the settings and get a new IP address from your router (automatic settings). You could also add the xbox MAC address to the exclusion list in the router to allow access with issues (or add to the DMZ).
