Yaris Turbo

Hi, sorry to start another thread about this but i just ordered forged internals (pistons rods and modified block and crank) for my 1.5 yaris TS with plans for a turbo. Got 2 kits on my radar but it all depends on the funds at the min. Im sure the cheap kit is crap but I reckon it would make a good starting point. The car already has Dastek Unichip fitted but it will need mapping to suit the turbo and am looking for someone willing to give it a go(who knows what they're doing!). The internals are arriving this week and i still have to decide whether to keep them or flog them as i got a good price but im sure they will be handy.

So anyone who wants to comment on the kits or offer advice on mapping feel free! cheers

when i realised glanzas are uber common now i looked into turboing a yaris TS from what i looked into most of kits look abit badly made or not good for any decent power (anything over 200)

personally ide go for a decent bine like a gt28 ok you would get a little lag but be good for some decent power, or if your more on a budget the good old td04 would be ok for 250ish

then mani and downpipe some thing abit more pricey along the line of a custom tubular in stainless then with your forged internals etc youde have an easy 300 bhp (with the 28)

the only thing i couldnt find is forged stuff where did you find them lol ??

how much where the internals if you dont mind me asking?sounds like a great project.:)
that 2nd turbo kit looks like xs power, could be risky.

Found them on eBay but they didnt meet the reserve of £400. I reckon with the crank, block and pistons and rods its a bargain. Just trying to get the guy to hurry up and send me his address etc so i can arrange delivery!

To be honest im not looking for scooby baiting power at the minute. A safe 170-180 would be great for now anyway! These engines always seem to give huge torque when turbo'd so it should be nippy enough i reckon.

I dont think its the cost thats the problem, more the availability. i reckon the cost would probably be something similar for a vitz engine but the shipping costs etc would be pretty big and the engine i should end up with using the forged internals would be stronger even if it will take a fair bit more work.

Isn't flywheel figures meant to be higher than the power at the wheels, seems asthough the people selling the first kit put it the wrong way? or im really tired and should be quiet! :

unfortunately the 4ef-te is the wrong way round. this would mean serious mods and would probs end up more expensive than this route. plus i would need a complete engine with all ancilliaries and loom etc. would be a complete nightmare!

And yea Flywheel power is always higher but i think the guys on the first kit reckon theirs can make up to 300WHP which would maybe be 350 at the fly. I dont believe them though!! Sounds ideal but you'd be looking to spend 10k probs to get that and thats too close to VXR Astra money!

it can be done and a trader on here is confident it can be done - as engine mounts line up apart from the gear box one.
the cost he has been given is very good in deed :)

yea well i already have the internals for my engine. i think the guy on yarisclub did it cuz he had a 1.0 16v which is useless so he needed an engine swap anyway. what you reckon bout the swap?

I have someone on my MSN (I think they're registered here too) that has successfully put a 4E into a Yaris. I'll point them in this threads direction.

The rods i am getting with the kit dont have big end shells with them. does anybody know if i should be able to fit stardard ones or can i get uprated items? or do i need to contact the manufacturer?

Theres even a simpler way of turboing a yaris. Get a K3VET from a Daihatsu YRV Turbo. Its 1.3 16v VVti Turbo and gives out 133bhp as standard. The K3VET is a virtually the same as the 1SZFE just its bored and stroked diffrently. I have both Toyota and Daihatsu EPC's on my computer and the diagrams and majority of common part, parts number are the same in both. Im sure the engine would bolt straight into a yaris.Im suprised no one has even noticed this before.

I even know of a breakers yard with a whole YRV turbo for £1500.

its the tsport pal which is the 1.5 vvti engine not the 1.0 one in most yarises

you can keep the stabndard ecu for lights and the rest of the car and use another ecu with another loom for the fte.. for example like nexia did... he uses his aygo ecu for the car and a mr.turbo ecu for the engine(briliant ecu) or a megasquirt for example
