Hey guy's

Just a quick question really i own a 1996 Glanza V and i know for a fact i have a JAM ECU i had a lil gander behind the glovebox after i bought the car and was plesently suprised to find the lil gem! Ive had a quick look around the forum and some thread's have answered my questions but all i really want to know is what advantadge's does this ecu have over stock ie: bhp etc? and what feature's does it have?

Here's my current mod list nothing too special really but where do you think i should go from here?

List: TRD LSD, TRD Coilover's, TRD HT leads, Cusco turbo pipe, Jam Racing ECU, Greedy TT, Blitz gauge's, Longlife exhaust system, Zep Racing De-cat pipe, Blitz BOV, HKS Induction kit, Sard radiator cap, Kira Work's front strut brace, Greedy type SL gear knob.

Thanks, Rob.

FCD, Speed Cut and possibly a slightly more aggressive tune would be my guess....i wish we had the ability to get those products over here:(

Well it all depends on how you map the ECU but yes it will increase your BHP etc if done correct.
As to where to go what about getting a FMIC, custom made mani, possible new turbo like a CT9 Hybrid or TD04 or Blitz K24 also will need to put some form of fuel controller in. This will see you to serious BHP and torque also you can get your engine forged to optimise preformance.
Really depends what you have to spend like all the above will cost serious money. First thing I would go for is a FMIC I think there will be a group buy on here soon for these so get one cheaper.

yup FMIC is a good step :) As for bhp gains on a Jam ECU - without a doubt. no figures, but it'll give much better performance over a stock ECU at any boost level - and it'll take anything the CT9 can throw at it.

Forging won't be necessary unless you got beyond a ct9/hybrid ct9 to be honest, and even then, only if you run big boost. Forging only makes everything stronger to increase the abuse the engine can take and power it can output (without breaking lol). Many folk on here run up to 250bhp (and even more, but if it was me, I'd start to get really worried lol) on stock internals without much hassle. There is a car in the for sale section atm running 238bhp on a hybrid, and many achieve 200-220 bhp without any dent in the reliability (if its done right!)

If you go for a hybrid, you'll probably be ok with the JAM ECU, you *should* get that checked on on a rolling road (to ensure safe AFR's), but it'll take anything the little ct9 can throw at it :)

As for Mani's there are LOTS of 'off the shelf' options available through the site traders, so no need to go custom really..

Thanks for the input lad's, and i would imagine there isnt many place's that would have the programme's to remap a JAM ECU. Would i be correct?

haha cool :D

the Greddy FMIC's are the biz, but they are rather costly! I'd consider checkout out the FMIC's one of the site traders has to offer? DaveBurwash (starletgtturbo.co.uk) is a trader here and is offering FMIC's with the same design as the Blitz for under £200 brand new..

If it isn't to you're taste, SPS (Starlet Part Shop) are doing HDi FMIC kits for a littlle over £300 and are meant to be very good quality.

I'd also give Toby (ToyTuning) a shout, as he has some top quality gear available atm.

Thanks Dave youve been a great help! I know toby im currentley ordering some service part's from him as we speak hes also been really decent. I know the greedy is pricey but when it comes down to the cheaper fmic's is there any difference in gains?

In my opinion, the gains of the more expensive FMIC would be immeasurable, and the extra few hunder you'd save could go towards a HKS actuator (or a ToyTuning one lol) and a boost controller.

1bar on a £200-£300 FMIC would be MUCH better than stock (0.65bar) on a Greddy.

Even if you're at 1 bar already, that is just an example :p You could get a few cool gauges, new Engine mounts, Engine torque damper or whatever with the saved cash. Its what I'd do for sure ;)

I fully back Dave up on that.

I have a WEPR FMIC and it is fantastic. Really really happy with it, perfect fit, great price, very efficient.

I would deffo recommend buying the WEPR CT9 FMIC kit.

I also have a Jam ECU and you can basically take a CT9 to the limit with it without worrying.
