hey was wondering if anyone could help me on a non starlet topic!!

i have a 2000 polo gti and i think the gear box is away to fuck so i was wondering is it only the gti box u can fit into it?

i have tried the vw forums but no one has answered my question so was hoping one or two ppl on the site might know and help me out lol!!

I wouldn't put a non GT box in really as it would prob break in a few month's...

A GT box will be stronger as it is built to handle more power than a standered box, so all the bit's will be made of stronger material's...

I asked this about my g/b in the starlet when it went bang and was told not to bother with a non GT box...

It'll be a few days before I'm back to work but I'll ask around the workshop for you. Those polo gearbags aren't great, the earlier 16v versions were even worse!

been into the veedub scene a long time, the polo gti g/box is the weakest piece of rubbish vw ever made, i've never heard a good word about it. sadly for you though, a rebuilt one is the only real solution.
