Hi there guys wondering if I could get some help, I'm looking to increase the boost on my starlet ep82. I would like to to get a boost controller to do this (most likely a HKS) But does this still mean I have to get a adjustable actuature or would the boost controller come with everything I need?

Many thanks in advance for all your help :)

its a good idea to replace the actuator mate as the stock ones become weak and it will not hold steady boost, toytuning do one at a very good price , i got one and the are good items,

standard actuator is very weak and will cause boost problems you will need adjustable actuator and boost controller if you want

Agreed. The most common sign of a weak actuator is when you set the desired boost level with the controller only, eg. 15psi, but it goes to the 15psi then drops as the rpms increases. Modern EBC's can help with pressure drops or boost creep but there is a limit to what these units can resonably do in such cases. A new or upgraded actuator will help to ensure stable boost levels without pressure drops or spikes from overcompensating for the weak actuator with the controller.
