Hi guys,
Im coming up to mot time on my car, and the handbrake is rather on the 'round your ears' not working.
Is there a how to for adjusting up the handbrake?
Also im thinking it will probably be needing a new cable, but cant find anywhere but Toyota themselves that sell them? TMD etc dont seem to list them on the websites....Anyone know the best place?
Is there on section of the handbrake that is common to fail to look at first?
Any help would be much appriciated
Cheers

i got mine from ricky. they can be got from a motor factors, im unsure whether they are specified for the GT and glanza or whether its actually for another car.
contact ricky and he should be able to help you out mate. cost is about £25-£30 a cable from memory

he doesnt trade as such anymore but should be able to give you some info mate.
i wouldnt worry about the centre cable mate, just the two longer ones. i replaced all mine but tbh the centre cable was pretty much perfect once i had it out.

I never knew you could get aftermarket ones either, think Dac let me know you could on an thread ages ago :)
I'd check the calipers to, they can sieze up after a while but usually its the cables that are the cause of the problem to start with.
I'd go with dac two, just replaced the rear two. When I replaced mine I kept the original centre cable and it worked liked new, still does now and thats after two years.
It might be worth checking the discs, pads and calipers for any signs of wear etc.

my calipers are starting to feel a bit shitty now due to this weather :(
feels a bit crappy when im pulling the handbrake up now, works well enough though.
will give the brakes a good service when the weather improves a bit!

Might be all those handbrake turns in the show dac? :)
I try to not put much pressure of put mine on very tight but the calipers I replaced my old ones with where second hand but still seem pretty good, they have not frozen up this winter yet so thats always a bonus.

yeah, mine havent stuck on or anything, just the handbrake doesnt feel as smooth as it should, probably due to all the grit in the mechanism or something silly like that.
definitely worth doing.

thanks for the info guys, will give ricky a shout.
My discs and pads are ok, mechanisms could prob do with a clean, but very much seems a cable issue mainly.
Cheers
