The head bolts should be replaced.

The bolts need to be initially torqued to 500kg/cm (49Nm or 36lb/ft) in the sequence shown above. It's best practice to pull them down in a couple of stages to ensure the head seats correctly, pull them down in sequence to 25Nm and then again to 49Nm. Finally in sequence pull each head bolt down again with a further 90° turn, if you don't own a torque angle gauge then put a paint mark on each bolt head and then a corresponding paint mark on the cylinder head 90° away, when the paint marks align you know you've turned each bolt enough.

Ensure the thread holes in the block are clean and dry and the bolt threads and underside of the bolt heads are lightly coated in oil before installing the bolts.

Before installing the camshafts, I would advise setting the crankshaft at approx 45° before the TDC marker. This will drop the pistons down in No.1 and No.4 cylinders and ensure there is no unwanted piston to valve contact when the camshafts are rotated without the timing belt installed. Once your confident that the timing marks on the inside of the cam gears are aligned, you can then rotate the crankshaft clockwise to line up it's TDC marker before installing the timing belt.

4E-FTE Valve clearance with the engine cold are:

Intake 0.17mm - 0.23mm
Exhaust 0.27mm - 0.33mm
