As above how do i determin the size of main bearings big end etc i need any iput welcome

cheers guys simon

You should have some numbers stambed at the end of the block near where you meet the gearbox from underneath where you seal the sump.

Should be something like 2222 and to the other side something like 22222

The 4 numbers are for rod bearings and the five numbers are for main bearings.
The numbers can be also 1,2,3 for the different clearence.

This is the way if the engine had not a previous crank regrind.

The safer way tho would be by a bore micrometer/shaft micrometer but it is more complicate and need special tools and experience.

so is it possible to use a micrometer to measure the crank shaft diameter to see if its had a regrind?
thanks

If it had a regrind probably would be .25 or.50 undersize and a micrometer will tell you this difference if you know the standard diameter.
For finding the clearence you need also to lock and torque the cells to specs without the crank inside and mesure with a bore micrometer the diameter at least 3 times at 120degrees apart and then mesure the specific journal and substract journal diameter plus oil clearence from the cell diameter.
Hope you get what i mean. It is a bit tricky to do so and if you havent any previous experience live this part to a pro cause if you make a mistake there you will have a knocking to stuck engine and a regrind will be nesecary afterwards.
