Strange Wind Screen Wiper Issue

As above lads, I've been having a weird wind screen wiper issue for the past few months.

When I turn my wipers on, unless its pouring down with crazy amounts of rain or I press the wiper washing button to cover the window with screen wash, my wipers make an annoying sound.....almost as if the wipers are sticking to the window as they move opposed to moving smoothly.

I have cleaned the window numerous times, used glass polish etc. I have also changed the wiper blades twice, but still seem to have the same issue.

Any ideas of how to resolve it?

Thanks

Have you tried wd40 yet :p

Clay bar or isopropyl alcohol will have it like new again :)
Shity cheap blades are little use after a day too, I always use Bosch blades.

Also lift the arms and see what way they move in case it's a linkage issue

LOL...no wd40 yet man.

Where do you get Bosch blades from? That could be my issue as these are just local factor blades.
Will check the linkage also:cool:

If you don't have any joy with the blades check the wiper linkages are moving freely. If they haven't been greased then it's probably overdue at this point. You need to remove the arms and plastic scuttle panel for access. Would be the perfect opportunity to freshen the arms up with some matt black and check the springs are rusted out of them.

How do I access the linkage Jay? Do I just remove the arms and grease the splines?

Screws hold the plastic scuttle panel on. Remove this and you will see the 10mm bolts holding the linkages.

Remove these so as they are loose and pry them from the wiper motor. you can then carefully remove and inspect the linkage, apply grease to the joints and refit. Or just blast the whole thing in white lithium grease with the wipers going lol.

Well worth clearing any old leaves and debris from the scuttle area whilst you have access. Especially on the EP91 as they can leak into the cabin around the blower motor intake.

Managed to finally get around to doing this, earlier Jay.
The linkage was bone dry so lubed it up nicely.
However, I seem to have the same issue with the noisey blades still.... The scuttle panel on the drives side no longer sits flush against the windscreen either :( lol FFS.
I ran out of day light, but will have another look at the weekend.

What's the tension like on surface of the screen?

Just thinking the springs could be rusted or weak after so many years.

Tension as in springs in the wiper arms Jay? If so, they feel pretty good. I also stripped down the mechanism and re-greased everything, not so long ago also.

Take the blade off and run it over the screen see what happens ? Stabbing the dark now lol
Also, how clean is your screen ? Give it a good fairy liquid and scrubbing pad or clay bar sesh see what happens, either way your screen will be spotless  :D

I tried this mate...took the blade off and ran it across the screen and it was smooth as. So it seems that whenever the blades are connected to the arms they start to drag across the screen....weird.
