1991 Toyota Carina

Hi guys, Mods - please remove of not allowed.

Bit of a random one. I've had a 1991 Toyota Carina E sat on my drive for the best part of 10 years. It belonged to my folks initially, and was taken off the road with a boot lock issue. They bought a new car at the time, and I wanted to turn the Carina into a project car slammed on coilovers etc. Never got around to it all my focus and funds went into my Gt and other projects.

I now need to get rid and havent got the faintest clue what its worth.
It was bought originally from RRG Toyota from new. Has 98k on the clock. Everything worked as it should when it was taken off the road but it hasn't been started in years.

The local scrap men keep pestering me for it, but it seems too good to scrap/break imo.

Can any of you gurus tell me what it maybe worth or am I best just scrapping it in for £250?
Also came from there factory with a private plate. J81 ONE... I thought may fetch a bit.

Thanks for any info

I 've thought about that many times man. But just havent got the time or funds... With having a daily plus the GT. You know how much owning a Gt damages your wallet lol.
I reccon with new discs/pads all around, fresh fluids and fresh fuel, it would fire up and be sweet to drive for someone.

You'd be amazed the amount of people wanting a barn find/parked up old motor. It's bound to be of use to someone, even as a parts car. A lot of those bits are impossible to source.

A lot of bits are swappable with other older Toyota chassis,s. My old gent celica GT rear brakes, arm etc all went straight onto a carina GTI lol

Any idea on what price Jay? I'm thinking just to list it and highest bidder takes it, but will probably get stung with fees.

Got any pics of the Carina GTI? Never even knew they did one man.

Good to hear it bud, hopefully you will get a few extra quid with the amount of interest.

It's weird that you could have spent a few £100 to get it cleaned up, fresh MOT and presentable and ended up worse off financially as a result lol.

Mental.

They are buying them up to export them bud charge them plenty :D

Lol. In typical fashion, I've had the barrage of phone calls already from the dodgy low ballers.
"My parents had one, when I was a kid ya see, so I really would like to buy your one. Tell me your lowest price"

Thanks Jay. Yeah mega weird. I could understand if it was my GT that I was selling, but I guess this thing must be a bit of a hidden gem to some people. If I didn't need the space, and the GT didn't need remapping, I definitely would have thrown a bit of cash at it and tried to source a set of coilovers to drop it on its ass. Would have made a nice cruiser.

Near 600 now :)
Cleaned up and lowered, set off plates and that would look the part, hopefully it gets saved

Yeah deffo mate. If I wasn't getting the GT remapped and didn't need the space I would have thrown some cash at it, to get it back on the road.
Fiingers crossed someone does save it and doesn't end up breaking it.

I was going to say, if you did scrap it, salvage the window motors as they fit the GTs no messing about.

I saw a pristine one at the scrap yard a few years back and salvaged the motors out of them,
