Corolla 3sgte AWD
Hi. I found a 3sgte engine with AWD transmission. A friend of mine was thinking to start a Corolla E11 WRC replica project and he want to find the missing parts to get chassis right and wheels on get the swap done and work on the body kit. He would keep the internal semi-original for the moment.
First questions are.
What parts of the transmission and chassis has to be brought/swapped from the Celica ST205L GT Four and what can be left Corolla original.
concerning the GY Four transmission, What about the Celica and Corolla have track and wheelbase differences? Are there any? What’s the procedure WRC uses to swap it correctly? Any stored data to use? Thanks

Youd need the floor plan from a st185 from the front seats back and the tunnel to even think about starting a conversion Frankie :) there are 2 conversions I know off down south built by a Toyota nutter, havnt heard off them in a while but 1 was for sale on done deal ie a few years ago. Mega work involved

So we see these cars done but nobody wants to do them? A conversion like that with body kot could be sold for at least 20k. I believe...worth trying?

Depending on the standard of the work you could spend 30k getting that 20k.
Only to put the complete engine and the AWD transmission with shock absorbers and wheels? For the engine, ECU and AWD transmission price is about $1600 which cannot be more that €3000 including shipment and taxes. Front and rear axles are missing together with arm stabilizers, hubs and cradle frame.
He would do the swap himself. Body kit costs €1200 + labor. Internals would stay original.
What would add up to 30k?

Hey guys. I was wondering what the procedure to change the 4EFTE timing belt is? does the valve cover have to come off or can it be done only operating on the side of the engine? Thanks

Do they have the st185 AWD with full chassis conversion? I heard from WRC people that it crazy expensive. How can you help?

From what I know, everything is pretty much bolt on. the only problem you will have is that rear corolla shocks might be too long . so you might have to cut the rear chassi shock mount and move it upper (I have noticed this mods on few rollas). I've heard some cheap coilover brands made to have your car rocking the floor are short enough to cope with new rear axle. You'll also have to reroute the exhaust to leave space of center shaft. Other than that, it cannot be that hard as nowadays you see more corolla 3SGTE than 4EFTE conversion in Mauritius

the st215 is now the most popular as caldina cuts are cheaper to import from Malaysian yards

Hey Frankie, check out the Fensport UK site for some epic Toyota builds :) 4wd 3sgte gen 7 celica they built for competition is now someone's daily driver and track slag :)
I looked at doing a 3sge swap on my Glanza rep but ended up selling the engine to help a Lexus man out, possible to do. Was a 3sgte starlet in the UK few years ago too loool think there are YouTube videos

Thank you for the information. You mean that the wheel will be is is the same? The engine will need custom mounds. When the engine is positioned, the rear transmission will have to be fit. It would be nice to speak to someone who did it to have the details. So far My friend has on hold the 3sgte ST205 and AWD transmission. He told me it’s hard to find Celica GT sub assy/frame, axles, hubs, calipers and that are necessary for the conversion. New OEM parts are very expensive to buy and some are discontinued. If you guys no someone I can speak to it will help. Thanks!

I will check out the website. Let me know if you know a guy who did the job so I can rely on some information before telling my friend. He doesn’t speak English so I’m trying to help him.
