I have this problem with my GTti, the thread on the OE Pressure switch is 1/8" NPTF which is a tapered version of NPT for a dry fit. If I screw in NPT it will damage the thread.

My oil temperature is in the sump with a sump plug adapter.

I was thinking I could T into my oil cooler line for pressure, but the mocal thermostat may only let it see pressure when its open. Wouldn't be a good place for it imo.

Sorry to Hijack

Ive got one of these coming:

http://prosportgauges.com/oil-filter-adaptor-plate.aspx

I think its a similar adaptor that others are using.

Im removing the Air Con before I try fitting this so will be renewing the PS belt with a non AirCon version. So I was thinking of just pulling off the PS pump to fit the plate then adjust the PS plate where needed b4 fitting.

Has anyone got any pics of where they had to cut the PS bracket to get it to fit and would a dremel be enough to trim the bracket down?

Thanks,

Been told that the oil temp gauge is not working as its not getting hot enough via the braided line to send a signal.

Was looking at Weejohns idea below:

At the belt end of the standard oil filter housing there is a plug that can be removed, and replaced with a bolt that has a hole drilled in it and threaded the same size as the temp sender. Drill a small hole in the pas bracket for the wires to pass through and you have it done.

Anyone think this would be a mission or is it just a case of finding the right size bolt & line?

i'v got mine plumbed in like that and works very well.

its the oil pressure i cant get a good contact to the mechanism thats on the block so the gauge flickers everywhere. pises me off!

Hey dude,

So is it just a case of me fitting the temp sensor (shown in the pic below on far right circled) directly to where it is shown in Wee johns picture???

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Thanks :)

Finally got the 2 gauges fitted. The pressure gauge works fine but for some reason the temp gauge is not working. I got this fitted by a garage so not sure what could be the reason for it not to work.
Pic below

The temp sensor is the bit that looks slightly frayed on the end with two wires coming out.
I am trying to figure out where the heck was this double adapter fitted in the engine.

Thank you for getting back to me. Before buying the sandwich I really wanted to avoid it because I knew there would be necessary to adapt the bracket that I don’t want to touch as it’s an old engine and it has a value. We worked on the sandwich to make it fit but we knew it was a risk and it would leak. So before buying the sandwich I bought from England to adapters that are basically cylinders where are you screw the original sensor on top and the extra sensor on the side. Correct? What I am not sure about is where the pressure sensor is in the engine block. Do you have a picture? Looking at the manual it seems to be on the front right of the block. Do you confirm it is for the pressure? Would it be possible to wire the original sensor and get pressure and screw in the side of the adapter the oil temperature sensor?

Is it this oil pressure sensor? Is it here I can screw in the adapter for both oil pressure and oil temperature?
Yes thats the one, you will need a 1/8th bstp adapter as that's the size of the thread on the block. I think you can only get oil pressure from here though. The adapter only has a 1/8th bstp port for the factory oil pressure switch and a 1/8th npt port for your aftermarket oil pressure sensor. I get my oil temperature reading from the blanked port on the side of the oil filter housing.

Sorry I just saw the picture of the blank port on the side of the oil filter. Did you just screw the bolt off and screw in the adapter?

Pretty much yeah, you do need another adapter though. This one in m16 x 1.5.

You will have to drill a small hole in the power steering bracket to run the wire through though.
This is a great achievement because I was gonna abandon this gouge thing because of the silly procedures to install them on this engine. So yesterday we got rid of the sandwich and checked the blanked bolt. We took it out and checked the depth behind the bracket. We have around 2 cm. We will have to cut the adapter I bought from England or buy the adapter you suggested in the link. On the other side the oil pressure gouge should be fine but we still have to try it. The sandwich plate failed because it started leaking after several months. I wonder why nobody shaped a sandwich for this car.

Some say a specific greddy unit fits fine(never got the specific part number). Also heard a few people in the Netherlands fit the d1 spec sandwich plate without grinding anything.

Haven't tried them myself so can't confirm if this is true or not. I'll be running the relocation setup and oil temp sensor on the relocation bracket myself once I have time to get them fitted.
