Oil Pressure & Temp gauges..help please

Hello All,

I have recently fitted the above up to the point of connecting both to the oil tank... I purchased an adaptor plate which sits behind the oil filter and ables me to just fix the oil pressure thing and the temp sensor onto easily.
As i found out yesterday, there is not enough room what so ever to fit this plate in, can barley fit a sheet of paper down there lol.
Is there any other way of me connecting the sensors to the oil? Been told i could buy a smaller oil filter but would this affect anything??
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance. LEwis

The gauges are 'Auto gauge' :D

No other way to connect it without an oil filter relocation kit with adapters or buy an adapter like a Greddy which fits like I did say to buy in the first place.

The Fram oil filters are the smallest I have come accross and give slightly more room.

Cheers mate, so i should either get a filter relocation kit or a fram oil filter. hmmm.... :homer:
Cant remember you sayin about the greddy kit mate and dont have a clue what that is. I just want the cheapest and cleanest option lol.
If i bought a small filter, i want to make sure i have anough room still or we are back to square one again :(
Sorry to be a pain, im just clueless on this...

what you need is a remote oil pressure sensor kit, its basically a braided line that goes into your original oil pressure sensor hole and allows other sensors to tap into it.

et voila

ring this guy and tell him that its for a starlet etc and hell get one right out to ya. Bobs ya mothers brother.

Ohhh this sounds like something i need. thanks mate. Should i get rid of the adaptor plate i bought? So i assume there is an oil pressure sensore hole already on my car ? thanks for your assitance on this. Lew

It could have been somebody else then :).

I dont have aircon so the pump is out of the way but my greddy sandwich plate went on without modification.

It is a tight fit between the filter and my WEPR fmic piping but it does fit
:).

Never seen one of the eBay things before, could be ok if they fit and work.

yeah its for your oil pressure light, this thing is good as you can keep the original oil light as well.

yeah you might as well, i had to buy a special adapter plate with bsp threads and it took alomost 4 months to arrive, then found out it was useless....gutted. But got one of these and its all dandy now.

So where does it plug in? At the front right hand side of the block where the oil pressure switch is and then the adapter connects to it?

Good information this is, I certinally didnt know they exist and probably wouldnt have a sandwich plate if I knew they did.

Does this allow both gauges to be wired to it? i have the pressure and temp gauge. Dosent the pressure thing need to sit in the tank?
Thanks guys for your help on this, really confused on what im doing. :D

yeah it allows both mate, On mine i think i have room for 3 additional sensors on top of the original pressure warning switch/sensor

not really, your temp sensor needs to sit as close to the engine as possible as the oil will cool slightly as it goes up the braided line but your pressure sensor can sit at the end of it. Its by no means ideal but theres no other way of doing it which doesnt involve huge amounts of fannying around.

Thanks mate. Does it mean that the pressure will not read as accurate as it should do ?
May be back in touch with ya on this one, will look into it.
Ive slapped on some rep points for u guys lol.
Will let you know how i get on.

well it shouldnt be far off as the pressure will only be affeceted a tiny amount (which chances are you gauge wont be able to pick up anyway) besides no matter where you put your sensor it isnt going to be ideal so i wouldnt worry to much. Just use it as a scale more than a direct reading. I.e. have a look at it under normal operating conditions and if one day it suddenly goes off the bottom of the scale id start to worry lol

I see.. ok, thats wat im gonna do. Sounds like the best option. Will i need to get a mechanic to fit this as i dont have much knowlege of the engine etc..
Once again mate, thank you very much for your help and advice :D

erm not sure matey depends on how confident you are. I mean if not done properly you potentially could end up losing all your oil and busting your engine.
