you need to be very careful with the washer in the oil pressure relief valve trick, if you have to much oil pressure you will lose power and you will also blow oil seals easily, and to much oil pressure can damage your engine as much as having to little oil pressure.

Drilling and taping the 3 holes on the oil filter housing is the proper way to do it, but you don't need to. You can hold the whole thing in place with just the big bolt in the middle.

you can also hold your wheels on with 3 wheels nuts BUT you dont because it's not the proper job, if your gonna do a 5e conversion why not spend 10 mins and just drill and tap them out, toyota put them there for a reason

which oil pump should i be using 4e or 5e

also anyone know thw size of the washer for the pressure releif valve

thanx in advance

5e oil pump----just make sure u get the one which matches your engine/block

as far as i'm aware the 4e and 5e carry the same oil pump anyways---subject to correction

in relation to tapping the block for the 3 bolts,,,i agree it gives it a more complete/oem finish and more secure attachment......but i've not heard of one case where someone using just the one big bolt had expereinced a problem.

if the engine was out...it would not be any trouble to get i done in all honesty---like gaz said

either way it works:cool:

the washer trick is something that is better doen with expereince....as ricky made the point above about danger in too high/low pressure.....i would not bother about it personally...hopefulyl someone comes along who has done it and can tell u the thickness they used with SUCCESS

to seperate the rods and pistons...you need to take a to a machine shop and get it done on a "press machine"....the pin is pressed out...its what holds the rod to the pistons

I'm wondering if the 5e oilpump with the seal in it is used instead of the pump with the seal on THE block , ...Will it lead to problems or Will it just be THE Same as long as you got THE seal placed ? ?

the problem is ..I bought a high volume oilpump a long time ago.
But now I am rebuiding my engine and I just found the seal is in the block on my 5e and my oil pump has the seal in the pump ..can i just put both the seal on the block and also in the pump and just use it or will it cause problems if 2 seals are on each other ?
