4wd Glanza??

hi all
have been reading about the 4wd conversions people are doing to the gts...now would it be possible to take the running gear from the 4wd and put it on a glanza?

i know its possible but would it be lots and lots of work?

You will need to SERIOUSLY modify the floor of your EP91 to accomodate the driveshaft, fuel tank and rear transfer box of the EP95. Here's a comparison of the difference in the central tunnel - this is an EP82 centre mat compared to an EP85 one:

Not saying it's impossible but you are entering a different level of modification.

no one is converting 2wd to 4wd, its the 4wd ep85 that has had an engine converted to a 4efte.
i think if u wanted to make a normal 2wd to 4wd, u will need a very deep pocket, and might as well buy an evo

is the ep95 as solid a drivetrain as the sport selection ep82 tho?

would it be possible to do a body swap of a 91 onto a sport selection chassis?

I'll merged this thread with the previous thread on the topic. Please see the pictures about for some answers.

According to my Starlet's manual book. which covers all the starlets the 4wd chassis is a few mm wider than the 2ws -) Not sure but about 70mm difference I think! The idea to convert is great though, however it wont be easy and I assume the gearbox would have to be replaced!

Just seen this and tbh its the daftest idea ever, if you want a 4wd glanza you get an ep95 and swap the glanza body panels and egine, loom ecu etc into that, to make an ep91 4wd would be so much work and money its just plain stupid! Yes you would be the only one to do it but ask yourself why are you the only one? Because gt and glanza reps using the already 4wd equivalnt bodoed jdm model is far far more cost efective and ultimatly the same end result meaning all you achive is a 4wd that cost 10x more to build but is basicaly worth no more than any other 4wd turbo starlet.

Just my 2p lads.

I found different results on here

http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/toyota/starlet/1994_5/

Here it shows most are EP8*s are 1600 wide, but the GT is 1620. Probably down to the skirts or bumpers. If it was 60mm wider they would need different body panels and I cant see Toyota doing that, they love to keep things simple.

Well, that's according to my book! I've never seen the actual car 0))) I think they meant the wheel base in the book! Not the actual body! I can scan the picture for you if you want -)))) The book is very rare and it covers everything about starlets 1989-1999, includes all the diagramms! Originally translated from Japanese!

Well -) you'd be surprised, but the Book is in Russian! That was the only place I could find the book and it wasn't cheap either! I can get something for you, just name it, it's not a problem to translate it.
I was really surprised the differences between the European Starlets, UK starlets and Japanese starlets - they're totally different cars with the same shape!
