Distributors will generally wear out from age and corrosion from the high voltage going through it all the time it's in use. Open it up and share some pictures perhaps..? Also, you've mentioned the coil and the distributor.. so which is it..?

All true.. hence my comment on bravery.. :) At times, you just need to get home or to the next shop where you can get a proper job done. I got to discover this at some point when I needed the rig running for a tarmac race event.. and no one had the inboard CVJ boots in stock. We got the closest...

You can also use some decent worm-gear clamps snipped to just the right size if you are brave enough.. :D

This is assuming your tacho just dies a natural death.. and was not tinkered with before dying.. right..? :)

The 3-pin is a switched (on/off) 12-volt DC signal. The 4-pin is what varies the 5-volt VCC signal.

Aha. I'm already on the CoP upgrade. Here's a WiP build album that I've not updated in a long minute.. but should give some insight for those who want to go the same route. I'm a cheapskate like that so reusing a lot of OE parts, even from other vehicles. Coils from Toyota. Harness plug...

While on the topic, how long is too long for fuel to go bad.. and yes yes.. I know, the environmental variables matter but in general, how long would you folks say is too long.. especially for you Ukay boys and girls with your 11.5-month wet weather life.. :p
