    we bit of a problem here with a golf gti 1.8 turbo

    vw are known for giving gearbox problems. The bearings are too small and get too hot if there driven hard. Then they break up inside the box, and take the crown wheel and pinion with them. Toyota all the way man.

    if you rev the car lightly (say 1/4 throttle) does the rattle come and go? Does it sound more like a cracking noise or a vibrating rattle? You can hear big end noises on youtube. You should check them out cos its a very distinctive noise. Best of luck i hope its not big end

    strange noise from front brake

    i had a problem before, similar to what you describe. After about 3 hours investigating, it turned out to be the big nut for the cv joint. It had somehow loosened ever so slightly. Might not be you problem but worth checking.

    i have the complete cynos and starlet exhausts. im using the starlet exhaust at the moment but i will be using the cynos exaust mated to the starlet backbox. will this help? is it ok to drive like this?
