rather have a jap car or numerous jap cars or even a bmw or something classy rather than spend all my £16k on a road going rally renault that breaks down every 10 mins. and having to source parts and deal with the ass hole renault dealers up her is torture enough!! much rather have a near enough brand spanking rwd cruising machine, that would probably beat it anyway lol but every one to their own taste
these cars are as quick as the s1 audis and s4 lancias with the correct group b mods.
driven properly, they would leave anything on b roads.
ive seen a lambo get mullered by an s4 on handling and acceleration and these tubo 2's used to compete against the s4's in the 80's. says alot about the skill the drivers had back then without all the computer bollocks.
also, my cousin owns a lancia evo 2 integrale with approx 650 bhp and had a hard time fending a turbo 2 off at rockingham in france on track. for 16k, you wont get a more mental retro machine. the lancia costs more than that in STOCK form if you are lucky enough to find 1.

thing is your 600bhp skyline or evo or supra or or or or etc exists in every town/city in the uk, no1 who really knows anything about cars/rallying would be looking at a 200sx supra skyline if a homologated group B rep is coming the other way

we arent comparing car makes really are we?, more models of cars. as some1 already pointed out a 6r4 is still a austin metro. and if your putting reliability against the r5 then your not really up to speed on what these cars were/are all about/.? its not intended to drive a 20something year chav to work on a daily basis like a 318 might, its a homologated lump of motorsport history, a little more than can be said for your average 16k bmw that mrs some1 takes the kids to school in

prefer the s2 coupe or the 316bhp rs2 van model. wolf in sheeps clothing. pitty about the turbo lag though.

Big fan of these! Really wanted one awhile back, wolf in sheeps clothing indeed! Stock figures re 0-60 5.6s and 150mph top end. Lusssshhhh! 2.2l 20v Turbo 4WD FTW! lol

i had the pleasure of driving one when i was 18 on a few occasions. as i used to get one into my work, which btw was a rare rhd model. these things are still fetching around 15k for a good one but low mileage examples are sooooo rare. again the turbo lag was what killed it but all the power hits you at once and with 5 cylinders it has a nice little grumble from it

I had a MK2 Clio Paris RL 1.2 with 130k i think it was on the clock, the old shape old style one, nothing special, was a stop gap and run around while i sorted my other cars out.
When me and my mates used to go target shooting with our air rifles on the mountains (not hard to find a mountain in the south wales valleys hey?)
Im not joking now but i took that car up the f*cking mountain, down tracks which were made by 4x4's, accross more bumpy roads than you could ever imagine. Its been almost axle deep in mud, its been through water..........everywhere you can think of a dozen times or more.
Its driven to cornwall and back twice, northwales and back 3 times, west wales and back more times than i care to remember.....
and do you know what? It didnt break once. Not even once. not a single part broke. And it was on at least 130k and had been hammered every second of its life. And its STILL going because my mate now has it. Hmmmm Renault's break do they? HA
